Default Error messages - BlackBerry Mobile data service

Please Login to Remove!

I've the following error message, and would need advise on how to troubleshoot =)

Error
Source: BlackBerry Mobile Data service
EventID: 15000
Description: ..........<2005-08-25 00:06:40.110 PDT>:[16]:<MDS_SERVERNAME>:<ERROR>:<LAYER = SCM, EVENT = AdminServiceImpl.run(): java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread>

It occurs every 25min or 35 min interval. I found it strange because it started happening when one of the users was trying to activate his BB wirelessly, but failed. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the error.

When i check the log file, i've found the above error message from MDAT log file.

I also found another error message from the MNGR log file, but not sure if this is related:

TServerManagerImpExch::OpenServiceInterface - OpenService failed, The specified service does not exist as an installed service. 0x424, ServiceName='BESUserAdminService'

The server is running BES 4.0.2.8, Ex2003 SP1, Win2003 SP1 with 1GB of memory. I can't imagine it would ran out of memory or page file...

Also i've constant MsiInstaller warning message same as this one:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/show...t=msiinstaller

Thanks in advance for the help! Greatly appreciated!

There is a memory leak with MDS and all versions of JRE. The issue has been assigned to SDR61214 as a known issue. I have set up a scheduled task on my server to stop the MDS service and restart it each night at midnight (net stop/net start).

Thanks Jibi!
I've restarted the MDS service and the error is gone.

Not soon after i restart the service, i've got an outbreak of warning message with MsiInstaller, about 45 warning in about 12min:

Detection of product '{8AC73B2E-5571-46F7-8772-8645709ABC5C}', feature 'Management' failed during request for component '{FE197757-5677-4257-A9D1-A8BD678903EA}'

and

Detection of product '{8AC73B2E-5571-46F7-8772-8645709ABC5C}', feature 'USBDrivers' failed during request for component '{E0987959-6DD2-4C96-9402-D00A6AEBF4E5}'

I understand this is probably not related, but just hate to see the warning messages

Anyway thanks for the help!

These won't be related. The last two are only present with Windows 2003 SP1, I believe. I have just upgraded my server and am receiving these as well. I sent in a ticket to RIM, so I will post up what I find out from them.

* Update: Its a known issue and will be addressed in a future release.

Don't know if anyone noticed but Hot Fix 1 for SP2 has a ReadMe on the BlackBerry website. Listed as fixed is the OutOfMemory error.

They are not available publically, even still. However, it appears that they do address and fix the issue. I've been up for 5 days after the installation of HF1 and HF2 for 4.0 SP2, and I have not had a single memory leak issue. I'm going to give it a few more days and then I'm going to install it on our production servers.

If any RIM support users are on here, please nudge the powers-that-be to go ahead and post these hotfixes on the website for download, as this issue does affect a LOT of default BES installations for no reason at all. I would have thought that the hotfixes would have been released by now, as they have been available, supposedly for well over 1-1.5 months now to the partners and on the FTP. Is there something wrong with the hotfixes, or was a lesson learned after HF3 for SP1 and that minute debaucle?

But for now, if you want these hotfixes, just call TSupport and they'll give you the ever-changing FTP information to download them from. If you do not have TSupport, contact your carrier and go through the escalation process from there.

Perhaps you should follow jibi's suggestion as opposed to waiting for the Hot Fix to land on your desk.

to grey's defense, its very rare that i've seen documentation for the hotfix on RIM's support site for *months* but there has been no posting. heck, if anything, they removed the other hotfixes. has RIM changed their hotfix policy for posting them for download on the web?

I would disagree. There was only a short period of time in which Hot Fixes were posted for download. You never saw them back in the 3.5 days and early 3.6 days. I would guess that the policy must have changed since even some of the previously posted Hot Fixes are no longer available.

Unhappy

Hi guys,
I have to admit I'm new to all this Blackberry technology (I get the idea and all, but I'm new to the software and devices ... etc) .

I've currently got a customer experiencing the issue mentioned at the top of this thread and I was wondering where the best place to start and fix this issue would be?

They currently have Blackberry Enterprise Server installed and after reading the docs, I believe it to be version 4 and in the Read Me it says that it's Part Number is SWD_X_BES(EN)-048.000.

HELP
