Just curious, but what's your background on key generator development, as well as cracking in general? I know this is a dead issue for the most part, but hanging out some background for credibility may help the cause (which I support completely, by the way). Given the nature of the application, I'm sure that your background may not be very wise to put on the net in public viewing (which is cool and all), but keep in mind that most people are fairly cautious these days with any sort of borderline grey-area technology and developments (which is a shame, but oh well).

With the way that RIM is about security, even though this is not much of a security concern (imo), I can't imagine this being a straight algorithm.

Anyhow, I respect your intentions, and I wish you the best of luck. I wish that I had an 8100 myself in order to support the cause (although I'd have my own pre-screening with you prior to blindly giving any information, as I'd hope others would as well). I'm not sure if many on here can ultimately appreciate the beauty that is a keygen, or the mind of a cracker for that matter... I've personally witnessed the evolution of an entire underground scene from the early 90s throughout the early 21st century (although I've since 'matured' and moved on, although I still keep some friendships with good people I met (IRL) over the years).

As far as my "background experence" of keygens, I've made 3 so far but not 1 for phone unlocking (which I assume is basiclly the same type of algorithm manipulated a little bit because there is one extra number (16 total) for the codes). 2 were for g4m35 and 1 was for 50f7w4r3. Im not mentioning either so please dont ask.

Again, I didn't know people would be freaking out over my intentions. At the same time I didn't expect many people to respond. My intentions were to help out the community, thats all. Thanks again.

I know we have group hugged, but lets clear up some things:

1. You said that there are only 10 possible digits for each number so how hard can it be? Well lets really think about this. an IMEI number is 15 digits, with each digit having 10 possible solutions. So that would give us 1.0 × 10 to the 15h power OR 1000000000000000 possible solutions. Now this can be less becuase certain numbers may stay the same for certain carriers, but I have never looked into that.

2. In one of your messages you said 'i didn't know IMEI was so sensitive.' I think you may have jumped the gun with your post, but a little research on IMEI on wiki pedia would give some insight to a lot.

You know I'm a little confused here. Why on earth would anyone with any knowledge of cell phones and such PAY TO HAVE IT UNLOCKED! Carriers ie: TMobile, Cingular and such legally have to unlock the phone at your request. Why pay someone to do it when you can get it done for free! Whether he is reputable or not why waste the money? Use your noggins people! LOL! Oh and by the way now you know where he gets his "info". I had my pearl unlocked because I travel abroad quite a bit and use prepaid sims in other countries. Once again stop wasting your money and call the carrier!

Welcome to the forums,
This thread is now four months old. This is an old topic. However, there are many reasons one would need an "unlocking service." The carriers will not always unlock your phone. If I buy a used 8700c off of ebay and want to use it with my TMobile service who is going to unlock it for me? Cingular? No, I don't have an account with them. TMobile? No, it's not their phone. There is plenty of business out there for unlocking services and they do a great service.

Is it just on the USA that it costs approx. $99 to unlock a handset? (just pulling the figure from earlier in the thread).

That seems awfully expensive when there are numerous store vendors in my city that will do it for £10-15 GBP (approx $20-30).

Just wonder. Oh and in regards to gas prices: I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get away with even paying $3!!! Its expensive beyond belief in the UK - you guys stateside are lucky!!
