Message folder problems

I got my 7100 (Vodafone in Ireland) last Autumn and am addicted to it. I love it. But lately I have a problem that I have no idea how to resolve so I hope you can help.
Previous to this problem, when I went accessed Messages from the Menu I would see a list of all messages from my inbox and my outbox. Now I get a *No Messages* notice and I have to go into the View Folder option and explicitly access the SMS Inbox or Outbox folder I want to see.
Has this happened to anyone else? More relevantly, is this is a really standard issue with an option to untoggle? Anyone got any advice on how to configure my message folder so that it displays my inbox and outbox by default?
