I bugged our Cingular rep about this but he doesn't currently have a clue...
Here's the problem description:
On the 8700, three browsers were available:
* BlackBerry Browser: full html browser, all traffic goes through BES. Access to intranet but subject to corp. site filters. Icon had a little black building on the lower left.
* MMode/MediaNet browser: WAP only and not very usefull
* Cingular/Internet browser: full html browser, all traffic goes through a Cingular server. Icon didn't have that little black building. This sometimes required a service book to be pushed by Cingular.
All three browser actually used the same app but it was started differently and used a different gateway.
On the 8800, only icons for the first two options are available. In the browser options, one can select between Blackberry, Internet or MediaNet browsers, but the Internet option still routes all traffic through the corporate BES. Under the settings->advanced options->browser menu, there are default settings. Setting both the default and MDS browsers to "Internet" still routes the traffic through the BES.
How does one get a browser that DOESN'T go through the BES (i.e. let's you visit sites that are blocked from the intranet)?
Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions you might have.
