Default 7130 - POP3 Email....

Please Login to Remove!

Hi folks,

I just switch back to blackberry after using a Treo for a year.... but the only thing that I need to do with my BB but I don't know how is...

I need to take my email on a POP account something, just when I need and of course to leave the email on the server....

For those how know Treo... I was using Versamail to just "get" the POP email when I need.

Anyone have an idea how to do that...

The blackberry doesn't exactly work like that.
You will link your POP account to your Blackberry using BIS... and the e-mail will be pushed to your Blackberry when there is e-mail to push. You don't go "get" your e-mail at all. This is the nature of push e-mail.

You don't choose when to grab your mail... it just arrives at your handheld automatically.

Yeah I know that way.... but the problem is, I'm downloading my pop email all day at work using Thunderbird.... and all night too at home. I just want to be able to check my pop3 email when I'm driving back to home or when I'm not at home after work.

If there is e-mail to check, it will be sent to you automatically. If you then delete the e-mail on your BB, you will have the option to delete locally only, or both locally and on the POP3 server (at least with BIS 2.0). Very nice. As far as selective downloading of e-mail at certain times only, I don't think that is an option. Anyone else?

"Wow" is now overused. Therefore, I will use "Magic bananas" instead.

Default Controlling Email Arrival

I believe you can go into the icon for the POP3 account, click on Options from the trackwheel, then Email Reconciliation and turn off the Wireless Reconcile feature. You can also turn it back on when you want.

Another thing I do when I'm not travelling is to go to your Email Settings (or the website, e.g., sprint.blackberry.com) and set the POP3 account to Don't Forward to Handheld.

I seem to get a 10-15 min delay on receiving new emails, but they do come through when I have everything turned on.

Hope this helps!
