Default Number porting/Number switching

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently with T-Mobile, and considering moving to AT&T... Ideally, I would like to signup with AT&T before canceling my T-Mobile account (that way I have some time to test them both out)...

If I were do to that, and then decided I wanted to keep AT&T and drop T-Mobile, could I have my new AT&T account phone number switched to that of my T-Mobile account?

Thanks.

The first problem I see with that is that to test them you will need to sign a contract and it will cost $175 if you aren't happy with them. As far as your number I would think they would charge $36 to change your current new number to your existing TMobile number but I would call them to verify.

I am with AT&T and am very happy with them, it does depend on where you are located as for coverage.

Wirelessly posted (overwhelmingly stressed)

You can get an ATT # just tell them you want a temp # to test before you move to att. If you decide you are happy you can then port the # and they will perform a # change should be no charge

AT&T totally botched my number porting and wound up giving me a third number AND charged me for it. I think it was a newbie who did the transfer, but they said something about giving a temp number first, as ezrunner said... unfortunately they left that # there and I had to call back a couple of times to get the number as well as the billing and plan information adjusted and corrected. Not a smooth transition, AT&T.

You can always port after the fact, but it's going to cost. Test with GoPhone. There's phones available for as low as $15 in some markets with $3 / day unlimited voice service. The GoPhone coverage map is 1 for 1 identical with the post-paid. If you're satisfied with the coverage, which I'm sure you will be considering which carriers are involved, switch the same way you would, anyway. Free port. Free phone. Etc. Ports from T-Mobile to AT&T are quick and easy. I transfer customers from T-Mobile all the time.
