Why not buy one from Amazon for $149, forget about the rebate, cancel and pay the $150 termination fee, and walk away with a phone for $300 instead of $399?

Takes too long. I'm impatient.

I'm impatient too but at this point we're getting pretty close to the actual TMo release so I'm personally going to sit tight.

Same here. I figure that since I've waited two months, another month won't kill me. Maybe they'll have some of the minor kinks worked out that others complained of.

Also, I wonder how much they will charge? $300?

My guess is that the price with contract will be slightly lower than Cingular's current price with contract. As far as buying one straight up from them, I'll be haggling hard as I tend to do. I'm a very long-time customer with an enormous monthly bill so I've actually gotten subsidy-level pricing (or close to it) from them on handsets in the past without extending my contract. . .

I don't know about Amazon in particular, but I know that when you buy with a contract from other stores, then cancel, they make you pay the difference in the phone cost. So you would end up paying full price for it anyway.

All I'll do is load the T-Mobile OS since it will be the newest. I already have Rogers on here since it is newer than Cingular's.

I'm talking to my T-Mobile rep on the phone right now and the 8700g will be out February 20th. Also, the MDA and SDA from HTC will be out that day too.

If we do get one from the UK, will it accept the US T-Mo SIM card?

Anythonymoody - I hope to work out a great deal on the 8700 with T-mobile as well without extending our contract. We've been with them for a while and have high monthly bills, but recently lost our business rep who was great. Hopefully, we'll get assigned to someone else who we can get a deal from.

I hope that rep was telling you the truth DrFooMod2. I had heard that they were maybe pushing release back to March. February 20th is less than a month away -- can't wait!

Isn't February 20th a federal holiday? Would they really release a product on a holiday?
