i really like how opera 3 renders the pages over BB Browser. My question is: How do I make this my default browser??? I want the browser to launch automatically when I click a link in an email. It does not come up in Options>Browser.

one thing that would be nice since we have to deal with inputing addresses on a seperate screen is if you could make the spacebar key the "period" key.... it saves a lot of time not having to hit "alt" then the period key.

thanks

I second this request. In fact, I don't see why you can't just enter the text in the text box. Why take us to a seperate screen?

Works great. I've been testing it since it was brought to the BB. This is a great version and finally the shortcuts work for me. Great work on finally being able to us the trackwheel for selections.

Downloaded it and have been using it for a week. I like being able to get into sites I couldn't access before. I have however run into a problem while browsing craigslist and want to email a seller because the full address won't highlight. Oh, and I like the clock in the lower middle because I don't have to get out of the browser to see the time

I love Opera's Beta version but that's just my personal opinion.

Thumbs down on the current version of Minuet vs. Opera 3.x....For now. Compare for yourself and note the incongruous color scheme and spotty rendering, particularly with regards to sites with forms.

Default how to get Opera to intranet (BES/MDS sites)

So how to I tell opera to use MDS/BES to connect to websites? I'm able to browse 'internet' sites but opera doesn't seem to talk to any of my intranet sites. The blackberry BES browser (does it have another name?) works ok and I've tried using IP addresses to rule out name resolution. When I run the network settings dialogue it doesn't seem to give any options, just chooses what to set.

Since some of you seem to have opera via BES/MDS for intranet sites this seems possible. Help!

Thanks, Jon

You can't. Opera actually sends all requests through their proxy servers.

Thanks for your feedback!

I read all your postings and have forwarded your thoughts to the developers in charge of the different areas even though I am not able answer them all.

We've prepared a new beta for you to try out. The build number is 3.0.6167, and it can be downloaded by pointing you BB's browser to http://beta.mini.opera.com

Regarding bookmarks you already added in the first beta, they should be kept but no guarantees given

This time, the beta is available in many languages as well.

Info about Opera Mini Beta at Opera Minixxx8222; 3.0 Beta

Here goes some of the changes made between Beta 1 and Beta 2. Some are relevant for BB users, some are not.
  • Replaced temporary camera bookmark with Photoblog bookmark on start page.
  • Progress bar repaint issue fixed during "processing..." state.
  • Allow the user to press fire to proceed on the initial pages where OK is the only available command.
  • New upgrade functionality added.
  • Initial focus in select lists should now be correct.
  • Softkey label bugfix for stylus based devices.
  • Added more headline indentation for Nokias with height of 416 pixels (e.g. N80).
  • Corrected the byte counters to include overhead from secure protocol, network test, etc.
  • Remove images that are 1x1 or smaller(!).
  • Remove empty links from web pages.
  • Added three new request headers, X-OperaMini-Phone, X-OperaMini-Phone-UA and X-OperaMini-Features
  • Opera Mini can now start on Sony Ericsson P900 again.
  • Feed poll intervals are now dynamic (poll more/less "popular" feeds more/less).
  • If title is missing, add feed url as title (with "http://www." removed).
  • Off-by-one bug causing last line of folds to not be indented fixed.
  • Fixed a regression causing the line break code to not consider the scoll bar.
  • Improved content folding header detection.
  • Do not fold the feed page.
  • Empty item in BlackBerry popup menu removed.
  • Better handling of parenthesis in content folding code.
  • Fixed a Nokia 6600 crash that occured when drawing transparent graphics (shortcut overview).
  • Disabled camera for Nokia E60 and E61.
  • Disabled camera support on Nokia 6280 running firmware 3.x
  • Accept stylus click on entire row of toggle fold link.
  • Scrollbar is now wider also on devices with stylus but without dragging support (if such a device exists).
  • Fixed problem with progressbar going to zero between trascoding and loading.
  • "Progress" isn't shown for server-internal URL:s.
  • Do interprocedural value range propagation. lolz
  • Fixes for samsung compability.
  • Check onclick properites set from DOM.
  • Made <button> work.
  • Made <button> tags out of WML links (this avoids the mandatory server roundtrip for WML forms).
  • Modified canvas workaround enabling on Sony Ericsson phones
  • No dots in progress when creating preview.
  • Link text larger than the screen can now be read.
  • Uploads > 64kb over socket connection now works.
  • Fixed a bug where #,3 and #,# wouldn't work after the shortcut preview was displayed.
  • Fixed bug with network tests on non-samsung starts with test 2/x instad of 1/x.
  • Fixed small bug with network test progress starting at 50% on non samsungs
  • The network test now finishes directly when finding an working socket connection.
  • Always show the feeds favicons when viewing feeds (even when the client wants to hide images).
  • Window is now repainted when opening feed fold, even in fullscreen mode.
  • Fix for the osnews articles getting folded.
  • Experimental rtsp-support added.
  • Filtering of indentical feeds with different feed standards (RSS/atom).

I followed the link provided for the updated version, it took me to the original 3.0. Has anyone else had the same result?

Same here but I went ahead with the update. I think it updated because it only tells Version 3 not 3.xx. So it may have loaded, I'm not a 100% though.

I installed the beta version from beta site again.

In the About section, it shows v.3.0.5849. I believe they have not loaded up the beta2 version in the website yet.

To Opera:

Can you modify Opera to be compatible with my city's bus schedules from OCTranspo.com ?

Example:
OC Transpo Bus Route 86

It displays, but the content gets munged up that I don't know which time goes to which column. Is a compromise possible somehow?

I had downloaded Beta 3.0 before and loved it.
After accidentally deleting it, I can't see any way to initiate the OTA download.
I've gone to beta.mini.opera.com and mini.opera.com they both end up on a /campaign page that only provides a download wizard option that also ends up with no download link.
Anyone else try to download recently, like today?
Thanks for any help.

I've tried installing it around 10 times and each time it says I don't have an internet connection even though I do. Actually I can install it but when trying to test the settings is when I get the message. Can someone tell me what I may be doing wrong.
