from a technical perspective, they appear to be the exact same thing, and have the same feature set. TMo device supports MyFaves as well.

They're the same. There's nothing in the hardware that makes the 8800 myFaves capable or the data plan cheaper. ;)

Again, an 8800 is an 8800.
