Default 8120 reboot during call

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

After much research on this forum and others, I decided to post my question here.

Sometimes (I'd say once every two or three days) my 8120 will reboot during a call. I tried several variations (4.3 OS, 2 flavors of 4.5, the latest being the one stickied here). Formated SD card, without SD card. Without extra apps. Nothing works, the problem won't go away.

Do you think I have a bad unit or does someone has a suggestion, maybe I forgot something.

I've had my 8120 for about 2 months now after having an 8100 for 2 years. I actually had this happen to me last week for the first and only time. I am still running the original OS (4.3.0.115) and don't really have any out of the ordinary apps loaded.

I'd be curious if someone has a solution for this.

Bill

Never had a reboot and been rolling an 8120 since launch. However, it will lockup when I run out of RAM about once every 2 weeks.

Try a battery pull.

My last device, an 8800, was quite fond of rebooting itself 5-6 times a day and no OS upgrades were ever able to help this. In the end, I had to get a new device. If yours continues to malfunction, call T-Mobile for a warranty exchange.

Default My 8120 Pearl rebooted while I was talking with TMobile

I just bought this Blackberry 8120 Pearl, on Sunday Sept. 14, 2008.
Believe it or not, it rebooted last night while I was on the phone with none other than TMobile customer support for a completely different issue!

I then called TMobile back, got someone who was way, way, way too friendly and polite ... and who talked so much about everything related to my phone and my account ... except for addressing the issue that I was calling about. Since he had no answer as to why my phone was rebooting, he kept trying to deflect me away from the problem. I then asked him if this is a problem that other users have called in about. Unbelievably, he said "No". He didn't even say "Wait a minute, let me do a search in my database." So, his recommendation was to go and trade this phone in.

Based on what I have read here -- i.e. based on the fact that several others are also having this problem -- I don't know if there is any point in returning this phone and demanding a new one. Again, this phone is only about 4 days old. Plus, I have to go Europe tomorrow and by the time I return, my initial 14-day return policy will have expired.

I need to call the TMobile store here in Pensacola (where I bought the phone) and try to get details on whether or not I can return the phone at any time and ask for a new replacement. My guess is that they're going to say "No".
