My buddy is in Philly this week. I figured I would have him try for me...

I've tried finding it in Miami, Fl to no avail =/

I also called cingular (the regular 888 number) to try to order it direct and I was told they don't see it in their system.

The business department also doesn't have it until tomorrow I was told.

- I saw two guys at Barton Creek Mall in Austin with them.
- The Bee Caves corporate store sold all five of theirs on Saturday.
- Downtown only had two and they went like lightening Friday.
- I called Business End User Care - they said they don't carry the 8800 model.

Heading down south to San Antonio to see what I can find tomorrow.

I'm slightly confused about pricing. I went to our local store here in Texas. The girl actually had one here and was gonna sell it to me, but the price that she had was $349 after $50 rebate.

I had thought that it was $299 after $50 rebate.

Anyways...I ended up not getting it as her manager wouldn't agree to override the systems to allow me to reup my contract. Oh well, I guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow for my buddy to do it for me at the other store. He would of done it for me today, but his boss locked them up in the safe because he sold a few yesterday.

FYI...the first girl said that their manager said it was okay to start selling today!

Yesterday, the rep at my Cingular store continued to argue that it was "impossible" for any Cingular store to be selling 8800s before the 21st, and that they didn't even have them in stock. Then I found a store in a nearby town that was willing to sell the units they received yesterday. Literally 5 minutes after I informed my rep about this he magically found a unit that he could sell me - something about a "special order" for me. When I was in the store picking mine up, two other guys came in and bought them too.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6636/1558; en; U; ssr))

I'm pretty pissed. I called a store today and they told me that they had it but it wasn't in the system yet and to come by later. I did and after they found out it wasn't an upgrade they said we have only two and they're reserved already.

Portland, OR here and I called a Cingular store about one. The rep said "Oh, that one has been delayed from Cingular for more testing. They found some issues"

Most of the reps have no idea, i would guess 7 out of 10 do not have a clue.

Haha - i love stories like this.

When Apple released their new Ipod - I ran down to the apple store here in NYC and asked if they had any in stock. The guy said "what new ipods", so I proceeded to tell him about the announcement at MacWorld - and he was like "Whats macworld? Is that something planned for this store?"

I just walked away at that point.

Got mine at lunch time in Downtown NYC. It was $299 with $50 mail in rebate. FWIW the regular reps would not sell it to me saying it was not in the system. But I noticed a guy in a suit and tie with a Cingular ID badge and asked if he was here for the NYC Event. He said he is just visiting the store. after a little small chat I told him of my delima, he basically took over and made things happen. Now i am the proud owner of an 8800c.

I FINALLY found one at the Cingular store in Selma, TX (just north of San Antonio at the Forum shops - 1604 & I35 North). Re-upped my contract and bought it for $349. The store was one of the MOST helpful Cingular stores I've ever been in and will probably start going there for future Cingular assistance.

Picked mine up at the Newport store this morning. They only got their shipment late yesterday - total of 5, 1 is a demo, I have another, so that leaves 3 in stock there!

Wow man, so I'm guessing you signed up for 2 yr.

I keep hearing different prices. So far I have heard:

No Contract:

1. $499 + Tax Before $50 rebate
2. $549 + Tax Before $50 rebate - Mas90guru
3. $399 + Tax (no idea on rebate?) - Phonemonkey

Contract:
1. $349 + Tax after $50 rebate - andrej70 + jfulen (upgrade?)
2. $299 + tax after $50 rebate

Mine wasn't an upgrade. I signed up for new service (albeit very temporarily) .

Ah - so do you know how much they will charge you once you cancel the service? And is that correct - $349 including the rebate?

I wasn't due for an upgrade so I called and said Verizon offers a 20% discount for my company and was thinking about switching. Let her go through her whole speech and then said can you do the 8800 for the upgrade price. She said if you stay with us, so I did that. $349 and then $50 rebate.

For those in the Chicagoland area.....I was able to pick-up an 8800 at the Vernon Hills Cingular store on route 60. They had 4 left when I got mine (around 3pm).
