I've been a side "trackwheel" user for years and just upgraded to the Curve. I have thirty days to try it out. I will say that getting used to the trackball is causing me some frustration. Just curious of most people prefer the trackball. I'm assuming that I will get used to it over time(?) Just wanted thoughts so I can decide whether to keep it or go back...... Any else experience this and make a decision? Happy with it?

I know opinions vary, but I think I recall reading maybe two posts on this forum in the past two years since the 8100 pearl came out, of users that just can't stand the trackball.

I have faced this a lot with users upgrading their devices. It just takes time. Once you get the hang of the trackball, you will wonder how you ever used the trackwheel.

I came to a curve from the 8700 series which had a trachwheel. It takes no time at all really to get used to the trackball. I have tried using my 8700 a couple of times now and I was frustrated with the trackwheel

i have a 7520 & 7100i both with track wheel and recently got a Curve and lov ethe track ball! i have had alot of my users go thru trackwheels like crazy so i am anxious to see how long the trackballs hold up thru heavy usage

I much prefer the trackball over the trackwheel.

As for how long the users go thru trackballs....the will go thru them faster than they did the trackwheel, especially if they don't use a holster and just put the device in a pocket. The trackball will get lint in it pretty fast and stop working properly.

With the trackball your thumb never has to move. You can go straight from typing to playing Brickbreaker!!

The trackball is much easier on your thumb than the wheel. Sometimes my thumb would hurt from using the trackwheel a lot. I wasn't sure if I'd like the trackball either, but I was hooked within an hour.

You can set the sensitivity of the trackball, too, and see if that helps you. Options > Screen/Keyboard and scroll down.

Hi, daphne is right. I used to get pains in my thumb from the trackwheel. "Blackberrythumb" is a thing of the past. At least for me.

I must say that, even though I enjoy use of the trackball, I wish there was still a trackwheel on the side that would serve as a page up/pg down scroll wheel (while in the browser/message list/etc) and double as the volume controls.

The only time I find myself wishing for a wheel is when I'm in the car with my bb in the proclip on the dash and I'm scrolling through emails. I liked the tactile feel of the wheel clicks when in the car on a bumpy highway. Sometimes I over-roll the trackball and click it before I can stop myself. That's it though - trackball is so much better in every other way.

You'll get used it pretty quickly. I had a 7750, then a pearl (and now a curve). I got used to the trackball pretty quickly... although I'll admit that every once in a while, I still reach for the thumb wheel

i've used the trackwheel before, i much more prefer the trackball

it was a little weird at first but once you get used to it, you dont think about it too much

Being left-handed, the trackball was a HUGE improvement for me. I came from an 8703e, and the trackwheel was always cumbersome since I had to use it with my right hand.

It still took me a day or two to get used to it, but I can't imagine going back now . . . although I must admit my thumb still reaches for it once in a great while when I need to scroll through emails and I happen to be holding my Curve in my right hand :D

Trackball all the way. My biggest worry was having to adapt for Brick Breaker, but I only found the trackball to be troublesome for a very short amount of time. Now, there is no way I could go back to the two-direction capability of the wheel.

Agree wth the others here-the trackball is superior to the wheel. When I first got my 8100, I spent a few days subconsciously moving my thumb to the right side of it, looking for a wheel, but that passed very quickly.

Hang in there with it-you'll love it after a while.
