Default Error 545.....a terrible story

Please Login to Remove!

Well dear 'posters' and BB fans; I have been a BB user for several years and always been very happy with my toys. Today I found that my BB decided to greet me with a Error 545 message; so I tried re-loading the OS via the latest dowloads from BB.com Long story short, I could not do it, so I drove 1 hr to my closest service center, only to find that they could not do it as well and that my device will have to be sent to BB Canada for repairs. Expected lead time: 3 months. What do I do in the meantime 'well sir, this is not our fault, so we are sorry'.

I am very suprised with the (lack) service from BB, I thought they would take care of us, the frequent customers who spend 'upper 3 digit' figures on a monthly basis. Only option they gave me: buy a new one for $510us. I am very upset and the only thing I can do is write. I spoke to managers and service supervisors...nothing. Zip. Nada.

Anyway, thanks for listening....er...reading....

You just tried loading a new OS on the device.

Have you tried to completely remove the old OS off of the device to get a 507 error and then load a new OS onto your device?

I don't know what the repair center tried, but I am sure people here can try to help and assist you to getting your berry back to life.

I am not sure what all you tried, but maybe some of these links will be of some assistance.

Gerardo, JSConyers won't steer you wrong. Try those threads and that should get you back on track. Sounds like your problem is fixable if you follow the advice here.

Let us know how things work out.

Tech support doesn't generally know about wiping the device with javaloader. I was with a verizon tech support rep and I was getting a 543 error. He was looking up online how to fix it, because their steps did not work. He actually came to this site and found a thread about JL_Cmder. His words were "Looks like you need to download something called JL_Cmder and try to wipe and reload the OS to the device."

I had to let him know I was way ahead of him at that point.

I say it is worth a shot, if it works, you're back in business. If not, you are without your device for 3 months.

I trust everyone here; your help has always been valuable; I just called the person that was servicing it; left voicemail; hopefully he will hear it before shipping the BB to Canada.

Thank you. I agree, worth the shot. Otherwise, checking e-mail remotely via iPod touch!
