Default Rant: Cheapskates

Please Login to Remove!

I am always browsing this forum, and there is one thing that keeps coming up that annoys me. People trying to get data for free.

Almost daily i see posts of people asking if they can use this or that without a data plan, or a cheap data plan designed for wap browsing. The same people complain about paying 20 bucks for unlimited data, but would not think twice for paying for a iPhone data plan.

Why are people so cheap? Some carriers charge over a hundred dollars a month for limited data plans. If you don't want to pay for the service, you should not have bought the device to begin with. It is a Smartphone people, and Smartphones need data plans to be useful.

There's nicer ways to convey your feelings.
This particular rant, and your choice of words, makes you look ridiculous.
Get over yourself.

I agree! Get the data plan and use the BlackBerry as intended or just be happy.

I never tried to censor anyone, nor did I suggest the post was misplaced.
Am I not free to point out the obvious when a member decides to make themselves look foolish with such a rant?

In fact, I believe you're equally as foolish for agreeing with it.

I wanna be a fool too. A lot of people ask, "how can I get a game and not have to pay for it"

What are you suggesting then?

Do you think that people trying to get data for free appear foolish also? For the record - I don't care what you do with your 'phone' but if you annoy me by asking how you can get functionallity that you only get with a data plan without a data plan, I have to point out your folly.

My understanding is that this is a requirement from RIM and Verizon is the only one that enforces it.

I have to agree with you guys, if you don't want the data plan then get a Palm. I mean the old ones, not the smart phone.

Wow, can't a guy have a good rant without being jumped on? I agree with the OP and hope he feels better for having it off his chest.

Yes, this forus is getting less and less questions one wants to answer and more and more of people trying to get something for nothing or struggling with device they've got surprisingly cheap on eBay, device which most likely reported lost or stolen and disabled by wireless carrier on their network.

I attirbute it to proliferation of blackberries. Few years ago forums like this were the best place to ask for true help with device, setting account, having common issues experienced user can help to resolve.
These days it is easier to ask a friend or coworker who already has blackberry.
