Default MMS crashes (app error 523) and replacing net_rim_bb_mms

Please Login to Remove!

I've tracked down the fault of the app err 523 to getting an MMS that the fone doesn't like. (p.s. wonderful denial of service attack to blackberry fones btw - just send a nifty MMS message to a blackberry from an email client with auto-retrieve)

That said, are there replacement/alternate MMS modules for net_rim_bb_mms anywhere? I've tried a couple different OS loads. Still breakable on the most current one.

How is it causig a 523? I send MMS via email all the time and never have had an issue. If you did find a want to consistantly crash a BB via a crafty MMS. Please DO NOT post how.

Same here - MMS crashed my BB.

I think this happens if MMS messages are coming from an external source - i.e. from a 3rd party gateway or another carrier. There must be some sort of incompatibility during the translation from one service to another?

BB doesn't handle certain character formulations, it causes a null pointer dereference which you can see in the event log.

the "fix" is to use javaloader to unload the mms cod, boot your phone to lose the incoming mms, power down again, put the mms cod back on your phone.

you lose the inbound mms, but otherwise, there isn't a fix for it and nobody seems willing to address it.
