it appears to be the only way in this situation. Weve tried sanctions since what the fiftys with this country I think diplomacy is pretty dead.

The only sanction for most of that time was a total embargo by the US. Then in the last 20 years there have been more sanctions 1988 there were financial sanctions against their banks operating internationally. In 2000 we eased some of the sanctions in return for them slowing their long range missile program.

I still think all of this is a negotiating tactic to get the world to one: end the Korean war and second: open up and trade with North Korea. Those along with a deterrent to prevent the US from invading is what Kim is after. Diplomacy is far from dead.

Then you live in a dream world. His son will not hesitate when he takes over. He is said to be worse.

Cuba is going to be a gas station for Russian long range bombers... Perhaps they can let NK use the pumps as well...

Nothing has changed in Cuba, just as nothing will change in NK, other than them getting nukes and bullying the world with said nukes...

It's like dealing with little boys in a sandlot. The leadership in NK is oblivious. This is just the latest 'bargaining chip' that they have manufactured. I don't know, maybe it'll take something 'a little stronger' to get their attention. It will end up being a bloody mess at some point.

To me these latest gambits sound rather similar to the Iranian detainment just a month ago or so.

I thought about that. I think the leadership of North Korea has less to lose, perhaps, than do the Iranians. The leadership in NK is all about provocation. They are all about upping the ante so to speak. Someone will call their bluff at some point. Unfortunately, it will probably be us.
