Question Storm 9530 Won't Turn On/Charge

Please Login to Remove!

Alright, so I bought a used Storm from my friend recently, and I'm anxious to unlock it and use it, since I haven't had a Blackberry in a few years.

I'm running into a pretty major problem, though:

The phone will not turn on, and as far as I know, will not charge via the USB cable. I do not have the OEM charger, and the only wall charger I have only puts out 550 mA, which I don't think is enough to power the Storm.

When I do plug it into my computer, the LED glows a constants red for about 15 minutes, then turns off. Also, when it is plugged in, it constantly connects and disconnects.

My question is: will plugging it in to a wall charger solve my problem? I don't want to drop $25 on a charger if it ends up being useless.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It cant hurt to try a wall charger.
It may be a bad battery also.
Did you ask the friend if they had problems?
Maybe a return to the friend is in order.

Default Update

Thanks for the advice!

Alright, so I did some work with my multimeter and came back with these results:

- The positive terminal on the battery connected to the one immediately left of it produces a reading of 1.7V, while none of the other terminals produce anything.
- The batttery was charged (as far as I could tell)
- A battery out of a different blackberry with the same terminals gave readings of 3.8V across 2/4 terminals, and 0 on the other two.

The battery that comes with the Storm is the DX-1.

Can anyone help interpret my results? Do I need to order a new battery?
