Talking OS: 8820 4.5.0.81 / 4.5.0.55 (MultiLanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.81 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.81
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.55
Software Platform: 2.7.0.68
File name: 8820M_PBr4.5.0_rel81_PL2.7.0.68_A4.5.0.55_F100.exe
File size: 76.45MB

Download link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...94685E4F4D1E5C

Instructions for installing on ANY 8820 (regardless of carrier)

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If not, get it here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the OS file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

I'm looking for any council from some of you veterans who update frequently.

I performed my first update two weeks ago to OS: 8820 4.5.0.72 / 4.5.0.52 (Multilanguage).

This thread offers a newer version.

What advantages would there be to update again? I didn't see any specific items referenced as bugs, fixes, etc.

Thanks!

I know for a fact that rel. 92, App versions 4.5.0.69 is out there, and will likely be released by a carrier in the next couple of weeks.

If you are not having any fatal issues on your current install, give it a few days and see what comes next.

Great advice. Thanks for the heads up and the quick reply. I'll sit tight for now, as I'm having no issues.

I am having issues... with UMA.

Most times everything works fine, occasionally a UMA call will connect and then within 3-4 seconds freeze my 8820 and either re-boot itself or need a battery pull. This is on 4.5.0.46

Is 4.5.0.52 or now this 4.5.0.55 any more stable for a heavy UMA user???

Thanks.......

.46 was very unstable for me. I'm using .52 now and it resolved all the issues I had with .46.

No, MSN Live is not included in the OS--that is a third party application to add on. If you follow the upgrade instructions, all third party applications will be backup and reloaded to the device. You may need to enter any license keys or registrations numbers once up and running on the OS.

Yes, you will still see the same splash screen. It will all be the same except with a new OS version.
