Default Need Help

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, i just recieved my first blackberry in the mail. i bought it off ebay. but the guy forgot to remove his password from it. so pretty much i cant even use it right now. is there anything i can do about this? other than email him and ask for the password that is, which i already did

Yes, there certainly is, written specifically for you:

Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

If it is only a password, type it then times incorrectly, and it wipe all the personal data off the BB. Then you can determine if it has an IT policy on it (see link above). If it does, follow those instructions.

You also need to make sure the seller has canceled their BIS account releasing the IMEI and PIN for you to use in setting up your email. Also, it it was used on BES and there are IT Policies on the device, those need to be eliminated as well, as the previous poster mentioned.

And keep your fingers crossed that he just didn't forget to reset the password and it is is a reported lost or stolen device. In that case you are out of luck as no carrier will activate it.

i can tell that it was actually his and not stolen because i can see his name and company on the start screen.

cool, If I were you, still do the wipe and reload the OS, it will be like getting a brand new BB.

Thank you. I was curious how this type of matter was handled. I had assumed you would have to call RIM.

To see if it has an IT policy go to Options >Security Options >General Settings. Scroll down to the bottom and look for "IT Policy."

If it has one:

Remove IT Policy
