Since the original poster didn't put this in the 7100 forum, I'll ask on this thread.

It seems that most of you are using the BT headsets with the 7100, however I'd like to use one with my 7510 and am running into some problems.

I bought my wife a dongle (Jabra A210) and a headset (Motorola HS820) to use with her Nextel i90. I tried in on my 7510 and it works, except that none of the "commands" are passed through to the phone. For instance, as I read the manual, a short press of the MFB should hang up the current call. That doesn't happen. We can make calls and the headset will connect and disconnect when instructed by the phone. But no other "features" are working.

Am I expecting to much thinking that the dongle would pass the commands through to the phone?

As a side note, has anyone else heard your called party remark that the volume is low when using the HS820? Seems the microphone is either not close enough to my mouth, or not sensitive enough.

Thanks,

johnelaw

You are correct in that you are asking too much of the headset/dongle. The headset commands are not passed on to the phone at all unfortunately. My fiance used the HS-820 for a few days before I returned it because I could barely hear her at all. It seemed to pick up a lot of background "white noise" that was ALWAYS transmitted, even when she was talking. She ended up with the Jabra A210/BT250 combo and is quite happy with it.

I am using the HS850 with my 7290. Very sweet especially with the flip out microphone.

I don't think that it was in any way related to the a210, but more the headset itself. It seems reasonable to me that the farther away from your mouth the mic is, the more noise a headset will pick up. Not that this is always the case (Jawbone technology for example) though. On the other hand, we could have gotten a bum HS820 as well. Either way, she found the Jabra BT250 that I had bought for myself to be more comfortable, so I returned her 820 and bought her the BT250. Althought it would be a much better headset it it were a little better at noise cancellation, we both still find it extremely comfortable, easy to use, and the sound is good in both directions.

The BT250 is pretty good all around I'm sure she will be happy.

I just wanted to clarify that your experience is not typical of HS820 user reports we get and my own experience.

Default Non BT BB 7230 here....

I'm pretty frustrated trying to find a working solution to the NON-BT BB7230 working in a BT environment.

Unfortunatly, the BB7230 is company provided, so moving to a BT enable device is not an option.

I have purchased and tried the A210 HS810 (with the flip out mic) and as one of the earlier members commented - I could not get the phone to answer or hangup. If it was on (mic flipped out) I could answer the phone, but was never able to hang it up (even closing the flip mic).

I also tried the Jabra BT250. No luck.
Both of these units "paired" without any problem.

I'm not wanting to buy and return a whole bunch of BT headsets. Have any of you had actaul experience (and success!!) with a dongle/BT headset combination that you can share? I underestand that there is a new Jabra headset coming out at the end of January that is more programmable? Is this the answer?

ANY help would be appreciated.

I just don't get it - I have a BB 7290 and tried both the new Motorola HS850 and Jabra BT110 and don't like either of them. Too much noise - sounded nothing like my corded Jabra. If anyone wants my new Motorola HS850, please PIN me at 202354BF before it hits ebay tonight. I love the fact that BT is cordless, but I guess I have to wait for the technology to be perfected before I give it another try (unless anyone has another suggestion).

Mariog7,

Perhaps the upcoming Jabra BT800 will the the answer for you with it's noise cancellation feature. I was going to get this for my wife who has also has a 7290, but availability is still a question mark. So we decided to get the Jabra BT250 instead. She's very happy with it.

I've been using the Motorola HS850 and like the others, I don't know how I ever lived without it. Great clarity, and unsurpassed battery life. Highly recommended!!!

Default When you get your 820...

Remember that when you go to put the 820 into paring mode, you must start from off, and hold down the MFB (multi-function-button) until the blue light is solid. You can't get there if the earpiece is already on.

I tried a bunch of BT heasets to go with my 7520, and I decided to keep the HS 810, the 820 came in second due to lower volume levels but it won hands down for comfort. I liked the Scala 500 from Cardo, I really liked it, it was the most responsive of the lot, and had more volume than the 810 I currently use but could not wear it for more than an hour without getting ear-cramps...I almost bought an 850 butr decided the $$ difference between the 810 was not enough for a bit more standby time especially since I got my 810 for $60 shipped.
