Default Desktop manger sync problems

Please Login to Remove!

For some reason every time i try to sync my blackberry and (outlook 2007) the desktop manager says, "You must be connected to the internet before syncing blackberry device." I am connected obviously. I have re-installed the desktop manager multiple times and different versions. I have 5.0.1.28 Is there anyone else with these problems?

Thanks for any help!

Try this, it worked for me, and I saved the instructions.

Back up registry, or at least keep these instructions to reverse themif it doesn't work.

Where are the instructions? Did you forget to attach them?

SORRY,

1 Click start
2 run
3 type REGEDIT
4 on the left hand side find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Synchronize\0x24a82dfc
5 On the right hand side find and double click "STATE"
6 Change the #1 to a #0 and your BB will sync without connecting to the internet.

Ok everything was exact until i got to >Synchronize. Under that was a folder named "Intellisync" under that was a large file name with a bunch of numbers. So when i clicked the actual "Synchronize" folder it showed me the following files.

Address
Parameters
Restored
Type

In there was also different types like View Log and Default.

Is there an alternative option or a different folder?

Not sure,

Haven't seen those options. Sounds like an older DM version. I use 4.6. Hopefully someone else will have an idea.

These are my two screens. The first one is at startup and I select Syncronize. The second one you want select the syncronization label on the left and set your parametrs. Once they are set you can select the synconize button in the center of the second screen.

Sorry about having no other ideas.

New 9550 and downloaded newest DM directly from Blackberry - it worked on my Windows7 laptop but on my WindowsXP PC I got the same loop described above. There are no menu options to set synchronization to DM rather than wireless, and every sync attempt generates the message requiring an active internet connection (that I have but is not being recognized.) So I did a clean uninstall and tried the latest DM from Verizon (my carrier) - no soap. I am currently attempting to install the DM that came on the Blackberry User Tools CD that came with my 9550 - will report back here as to result.

Another thing I am wondering about and intend to track down (and report upon here) is whether I have to do something to point my 9550 to the Verizon wireless network in order to break this loop or even if I can do that if I want to if Verizon is not my home phone line carrier. The wireless connection on my 9550 is currently with my wireless router which handles my ATT DSL signals.

And BTW, neither the Blackberry DM version nor the Verizon DM version have the "state" entry in my registry to which changes to value might be made. Verizon build is 5.0.1.28 and Blackberry build is 5.0.1.37.

Not sure about any of your other problems, sorry. I use 4.6 DM and it has been rock solid and has the "state" choice. Have you googled any of your issues.

Thanks-

Haven't googled yet but that is next. I installed the DM from the CD and is version 5.0.1.8, and has the same problem and does not have the "state registry entry. May be joining you in version 4.6 before this is over...

you did not mention the service youhave. BES or BIS. It sounds like you have a setup issue with the DM.

Read this from RIM

*********SOLUTION***********

My problems are solved! I worked over a Verizon rep until she finally got me connected directly with a BlackBerry rep who in turn pushed me up to a Tier 2 rep, and he had the answer. (BTW my setup is BIS.)

While I had done my best to configure my Kaspersky firewall and anti-virus to allow Research In Motion, he had me *disable* both while we worked. Secondly (and finally) he had me go into Internet Options>Advanced tab and scrolling down into the Security area, *uncheck* both "Check for publisher's certificate revocation" and "Check for server certificate revocation", then restart the computer. Once rebooted, the sync process ran just like it was designed to, and everything is jake.

Turn firewall and anti-virus back on and re-check the boxes for certificates, if they were checked before.
