here's the rundown....i was at a party and i threw up all over my 8800. i am devastated. from what i can tell, it is gone. wont turn on, but everytime i put the battery back in it, the lcd lights up with a white screen and has a picture of a battery with a line going through the battery picture. ive also tried putting friends batteries in there as well, i get the same results. is there no hope for my BB? is there anything i can do?

ive had my BB completely taken apart for a couple days so it could dry out. ive heard of actually drowning the phone in distilled water (whatever that is) and then letting it dry out from there. i refused to make matters worse, but is that really the way to go? need HELLPPP PLEASE!!! THANK YOU!

Hahahaha. Thats disgusting. Not only was your phone soaked. But it was soaked in throw up. Not good. Even if you dry it out, you still gotta clean it. I wouldnt dare hold that phone up to my face with it smelling like "throw up."

Thats why I leave my phone in the car while at parties. Ya never know what happens until that next morning. I remember going to a party and passing my phone around to people. Luckly nobody ran off with it. I was smashed.

Snappy, if you don't even know what distilled water is, I would not recommend you doing anything else. Just go get a new one, or something.

I could never use that phone again! It would always remind me of that. Unfortunatley might just have to suck it up and get a new one.

If you can't swing that, you might want to try to send it off to repair. there are places that do that kind of work. (you don't have to tell them what happened to it, just that it got wet). They can diagnose, clean (eww), and repair.

It might be possible to save it but anytime you spill any liquid on electronics you need to remove the power source right away and leave it off until it's cleaned and drried. It's a tricky process as you do need to use something like distilled water (water without impurities doesn't conduct very well) to remove the spilled liquid and then allow the device to fully dry out -- we're talking days of drying -- before ever attempting to power it up again.

I guess worst case is that you'll end up with a dead BB but it sounds like it is pretty useless in its current state anyway.

I say, if you have insurance, just tell your carrier you dropped it in water and get a replacement. Sure it may cost you $, but lessoned learned right.

Dont feel bad. I bet have the people on this forums is afraid to admit something stupid like that.

Very risky my friend. I would probably just leave the phone alone. Cant help you on that. Best of luck to ya.

You might wanna dry your phone in a hot car or something.

A hair dryer can get to hot and possibly damage the phone. I would not recommend it.

Read this, and good luck.
Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ

Likewise, you can do a search on "wet" on the board here and get thousands of suggestions. I would suggest you do that, first.

I'm wondering how much damage your acidic stomach bile did to eat up the delicate electronics in there. And I can only imagine how your car would smell if you heat it up in there!

that is the funniest/most disgusting thing I've heard all day - thanks for that.

As I don't think these things stand up to Lysol too well, it sounds like you're shopping for a new phone. Try not to yak on it.

Just lay 10 air fresheners on top of the phone and leave a window cracked. Out with the bad acidic smell, in with the good strawberry (whatever) smell.....

hahaha kidding
