Default Moved BES 4.1, can't get SRP to pass Network Test

Please Login to Remove!

I had BES 4.1 running on a SBS2003 machine with no problems for the last few years. I needed to move BES to a 2003 standard server as the SBS box is being replaced and i need to stay with 4.1. I have shut down the old BES services and used the same user to set up the new BES as i did to install the old one. I don't have any other programs running on this new box except Norton Endpoint Protection so there should be any conflicts.

Everything goes well until i get to the "SRP Address" of the installation When i hit Test Network Connection it gives: Error! Invalid Network Connection. So i searched around to find a few suggestions.

Port 3101 is open on my firewall
I can ping and tracert srp.us.blackberry.net

I found a suggestion to run the program 'bbsrptest' which gave the following response.
C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility>bbsrptest
NetworkAccessNode is srp.us.blackberry.net.
Attempting to connect to srp.us.blackberry.net (204.187.87.33), port 3101
Sending test packet
Waiting for response
Receiving response
recv() failed: Software caused connection abort (10053)
i can't find any suggestions on that error and i don't remember having that issue in that past. Any ideas??

It doesn't sound like port 3101 is opened for outbound initiated bi-directional traffic.

From the BES, what happens when you try this from a command prompt:
c:\> telnet srp.us.blackberry.net 3101

That's actually a good sign. Means the firewall is allowing port 3101 traffic.

Are you sure your SRP and Authentication Key are correct?

What happens if you disable Norton Endpoint Protection?
(That could very well be causing the problem.)

In the registration it has only asked so far for the CAL Key. I have two, one that can with BES for 1 user and a 5 user in addition. I have tried both of these but still get the same message.

I disabled Endpoint but still have the same message. So i stopped the service but still have the same message...

Do you have TSupport / Expert Support Center Access?

There is a "test SRP" tool available where you can check to see if your SRP id has been disbled by RIM

Not a current one. We had a one year support contract i believe, but after getting BES up a few years back we haven't had a need to spend the cash and with a budget crunch right now it's not going to be approved to renew.

Any other way to get that testing tool?

Please tell me you don't have it open inbound; it isn't needed, you should close it.

Disable all A/V & Firewall software on the server and try again ... sounds like that is the problem.

I have tried that suggestion with no improvement. I even gave the server it's on a public IP address and hooked it into my main internet connection. same thing.

I'm tossin' in the towel on this one. Only have 5 users who all need to upgrade their phones anyways, so they'll just get PDA/smart phones which i can easily sync to exchange. exchange 07 does have 'wipe remote device' and that was my only feature i needed when a phone was lost.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Norton Endpoint Protection might be the issue, did you install only the AV portion and not the network threat protection or firewall?
