Updated my Blackberry 9000 Bold.

Updated from 4.6.0.190

Took approximately 45 minutes without any issues during installation.

Post-installation only minor glitches including indicates failing to deactivate however, this was corrected with a battery pull. Wi-Fi connectivity is constant and stable. 3G connectivity is constant and stable as well. No issues identified.

Will report if any issues occur.

I just got the BB Bold 3 days ago, from T-mobile Netherlands, this is my first BB.
And the current OS is 4.6.0.126 (platform 4.0.0.135) and comparing tot the latest version this is a very old version. I was just wondering if I should upgrade to the latest version and if this is going to be a problem for T-mobile, with the warranty and setting?
I was wondering if you guys could give me advice, Thanks.

Hi! I've search but i cant seem to find where to add more input language, there is only English, English-UK and french. I need Japanese. I've already upgraded to version v4.6.0.213 (v4.0.0.183).

Should I maintain the version of my carrier (Rogers Wireless)

Also, how to install east asian language in the multilingual version? Should i donwload the east-Asian pack and install it or?

Solution 1: Downloaded and installed the East-Asia pack and updated my os, then could add support and input for asian language

I'm an AT&T customer in the USA / So. Cal. area.

Just upgraded to 216. Everything looks good:

- Using unlocked themes - check
- Sync with Google calendar and contacts via Goosync - check
- GPS including Google Latitude - check
- Wifi works, is stable - check
- Bluetooth including A2DP audio streaming in my car - check
- Music and video files on my 16GB SD card - check

The one thing I have consistently had trouble with is resets in the middle of a call, my guess is that it tries to switch between 3G and EDGE during the call and this causes a reset. This happens to me once or twice per week. I had this with 167 and 185. So we'll see if I can get a reset-free experience this time.

I also installed it tonight. Everything works great. No problems to report at this time. Hopefully it will continue.

Everything is OK . BUT , it seems to me that the battery's life stays longer with the previous one. With the latest OS , I have to charge it everyday twice .
Any suggestions..........

I'm not sure to what you refer in terms of data transfer, but I haven't been able to get TrafficEdge to work on the builds since .190, either. It won't use the WAP settings (I've tried many different variations of these) and often freezes the BB, requiring a battery pull. According to Handango, TrafficEdge will not work on the Bold, but it used to work on the Bold with the earlier OS versions.

Default .216 problem and easy fix

After I installed .216, holding the mute button down would not put my Bold into standby mode. A battery pull fixed the problem.

Not sure if TrafficEdge works on OS .216. I had it on earlier OS versions on the Bold, but took it off as it wouldn't scale properly to the Bold screen.

I upgraded to .216 dutch T-mobile version. Most functions work great, except Wifi.
The browser has some kind of problem with Wifi, the browsers doesn't always work. I have to request a site several time before the browser loads it.

I have the same issue with random rebooting. I'm on this package (platform and apps). It has not be consistent behavior, but I had two reboots today, one at the conclusion of a call and one while it was sitting on the table not in use. Hopefully feedback will make it to RIM and we'll see a fix. This is not a minor annoyance when it occurs during a call.

cheers,

Default Killed my phone

so this just killed my bold :(

It locked up during device init. - waited a couple hours and nothing, pulled the battery and now when I put it back I get a flashing red light .... loader says connecting to ARM but never does anything.

Any ideas now besides the trash can?

thanks

Wirelessly posted (supercalifragilisticexpialidoc)

Wipe it with the JL_Cmder and follow the instructions on how to reinstall the OS.

Thanks - managed to recover using Loader on XP ... this was all caused by Windows 7 for those wondering ... it IS actually easier to use XP and bridge the USB on a Mac than kill the phone

Default Smooth

Just upgraded mine... Everything smooth, although still getting cuts (as I did before on 1.62) in calls as I move from 3G covered areas to EDGE.

I guess that's not BB's fault at all... So I'm keeping BOLD set to 2G unless I actually need 3G... helps with battery time also.

BTW - did the upgrade on MacBook Pro, using VMware...

cheers,
I've been on 216 for a week and have had zero reboots so far.

Default .190 is the best Os so far

I went from .190 to .210, then to .216, .219 and finally .234.
All of these above .190 have problems to tether the blackberry with Macs.
.219 and .234 have issues with media player (the volume change from song to song).
So I strongly recommend to stay with .190.

It's the best OS so far.
