No Addresses or Wireless Synchronization Option
Please Login to Remove!
I recently activated (3) 8830 users on our BES for Domino server. Everything appears to be synching properly, with the exception of their Address Books. No entries appear, and when I check their Address Book Options, the "Wireless Synchronization" option does not even appear.
What I have tried thus far:
- Wiping the devices and reactivating
- Deleting the Desktop [ALP] Service Book, then reapplying the Service Books
- Reapplying the IT Policy
- Manually forcing a replication of the users Address Book in Notes (Roaming files appear correctly, and contain legitimate addresses).
Could these possibly be just faulty SmartPhones?
Thank you

KB10594 - Wireless synchronization option is missing for Address Book, MemoPad, Tasks, or Calendar
You're deleting the wrong service book.

Re: Suggestions
Only (3) of (30) BES users are experiencing the issue (all have identical IT Policy assigned).
Just tried that Service Book, same results.
I came across another posting posting, which suggested manually synching first (seems to remove the benefit of OTA synching...):

Wireless Synchronization Issue Resolved!
For anyone's future reference, this is how I ultimately resolved the problem:
I looked at the "PIM Sync" settings of the BES users in question, and noticed that the following fields beneath "Address Book" were blank:
Location - Server
Location - Relative Path
I Input the Notes Server name and the path to the user's Roaming Address Book, resent their Service Book, then had the users replicate their address book, which immediately resolved the issue.

nice!
This is also how we do it, except we dont have "Roaming Address Book" so we put the users mail file in here and get them to use the "Synchronize Address Book" feature in Lotus Notes under
Inbox > Actions > Synchronize Address Book
I know its not ideal but all we can muster up
Anyone else do this?

We used to do this till about a few years ago. Each LN User has a Server Copy of their Address Book on the server that replicate b/w the client every 30 mins and on start up. This is much better and requires no user interaction.
As an option, there is a code you can add to the start up of the client which can automatically sync inotes contacts upon LN startup.

Re: Service Book entries
Yes, I have found that any entries you remove, will reappear once the Service Book is pushed down again. I've also read where you can perform a delete on a Service Book item, then immediately perform an undelete (which I guess is supposed to refresh it).

Re: Notes Startup Code
I'm not sure that you require any code, per se. You could simply modify the following:
Replication -> Settings -> Change Schedule -> Replicate when Notes starts.

Trouble is, iNotes contacts don't replicate like normal notes replication. Hence the need for code to synch them upon opening the mail file. Sorry Ozzy, no link to code in this post either. Here is something I found on the IBM message boards, perhaps your admin can figure out the coding details:
---------
put some code in the PostOpen event of the mail file to run the "Syncronize Address Book" agent.
This will run every time the user opens their mail file. You can also set it up to set/check an environment variable to do it just once per day.

reproduce the behavior?
If this works, I'm stoked.
But first, can I reproduce the behavior? (i.e., make it so the wireless sync. setting is not available in address book options?)
I currently have it shown on my own blackberry--but at some point in time it was never there, and I want to get back to that, so I can test the resolution.
I want to avoid messing with a user's blackberry and just use my own to test. So, if I can reproduce the behavior and try the resolution below, then that'll be great. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until an employee gets a blackberry, see if the setting is missing, and play around with theirs, while I set them up.
Thanks!

Couldn't reproduce behavior (i.e., so wireless sync setting is NOT shown in address book options, so I can test the resolution that TTCTECH posted) ...
In BES, I cleared those fields for my account.
Cleared the service book, per Rim's KB - Doc ID : KB10594
Resent the service book.
I checked adress book options and wireless sync setting is there.
I checked those fields in BES for my account and they are field in automagically.
Anybody have any insight?????
Otherwise, I'll guess I'll just have to wait, or find a user who's willing to let me mess with their BB.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no definitive answer to this, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
I tried TTCTECH's fix:
Filled in these paths beneath "Address Book":
Location - Server
Location - Relative Path
Resent the Service Book
Had the user replicate their address book
It didn't work for one user. How long is it suppose to take before the setting shows up?
Another time for another user I did the same steps, except I didn't have to do the resend service book step, the wireless sync. setting for the address book had already shown up.
And then this other time for yet another user, before I knew about TTCTECH's steps, the wireless sync. setting showed up after I played around with PIM settings in Desktop Manager, sync'ing up the BB, and rebooting the device.
I can't figure out the steps to get this right.
I recall even playing around with Rim's KB on this, where you delete the "Desktop" service books and recreate it.
