Default Question about Blackberry and time zones!

Please Login to Remove!

A user sent me a meeting planner request to set up a lunch appointment in Denver on Monday. The lunch appointment is scheduled for noon MDT, and appears on my calendar now at 3:00 EST (which is technically correct from an East Coast perspective). When I am on my blackberry in Denver, will the appointment change to noon, or will it always appear at 3:00 on my calendars? I do not beleive the blackberry time changes as you move through different time zones.

The appointment will stay in ET, 3:00. Which is technically correct because the clock on your Blackberry will also be in ET.

Yes, I believe that it will. Anyone else have any insight?

Yes..if you change the timezone the appointments will be updated also. They always show based on the current time zone selected.

Same with your daily alarm.

Default Disable time shifts?

Is there anyway to prevent the BlackBerry 7290 from shifting all the appointments in the calendar to the local timezone (that is set in Options -> Date/Time)? Whenever I travel, I set my BlackBerry 7290 to the local timezone. The blasted thing shifts all the appointments in the calendar to the local time zone. I know that some people love this feature, but I hate it.

Don't you want to know the "real time" that the appointments are in? I'm one of those that like it; if I go to Central from Eastern AND change the TZ on the BB, I need to know the correct time - not the time in EDT - that the meetings are in. I'm afraid of missing a meeting if I don't have the right TZ set!

i can tell you that the military avoids this by using the zulu time zone (GMT) as its only reference for movement orders and official communications/messages and also uses the 24 hour clock vs the 12 hour (am/pm) clock..

but that may a bit much for what you need.

in the meeting notes i would list a note that references the meeting location (city/state) and then the local time for the scheduled mtg. When i doubt you could look at the text of the messsage as a frame of reference..

Most of these posts seem to be addressing a timezone setting change.
I do not want to change the timezone setting, I want to the ability to select what is displayed on the blackberry - network time or timezone time.

Is there a way to do that?
