Welcome to the forums. If you can't remember the password you are out of luck. There is no way around it. You'll have to enter the password wrong 10times (which will delete all data) and then enter a new password.

If you can't remember the password, it won't unlock. It'll just erase.

Maybe you could take screen shots with jl_cmdr during the process.

Download here, but obviously use the picture function instead of erasing.
How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ.com

You'll have to keep taking shots to get through the point where you have to enter "Blackberry" in the password box.

If you follow the suggestion you may be able to see the data on the screen.

Sorry, the software works via a PC and shows the BB screen so you can see what you are doing.

I have another idea, but it's somewhat technical and requires you to have a backup of the device on the computer. If you load up a device simulator, get the backup restored to it, then you'll have the ability to play away with it until you get the password right.

I don't know if your the technical type that would want to replace the screen, but you can buy a new one here BlackBerry 8100 Pearl OEM LCD screen- Apple, NEC, HTC, Acer, BlackBerry, Panasonic, Mobiado, Nokia, Alcatel, Motorola, . You probably can find it cheaper elsewhere, I just didn't look.

As for myself, well I've resoldered components in my pearl, as I'm far to impatient to wait for repairs to be done.

haha you realize that when the device has a password on it you have to enter the password in desktop manager to do a backup unless this guy has a recent backup which according to his post its been soooooo long since he used it that he forgot his pw, i doubt he has one. this is why i have the autobackup set everyday. i have hundreds of contacts and this past month i used 12,875 texts and receive about 150 emails a day. i cant afford to lose a days backup
