Default Field Worker Tracking on blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know of any good tracking applications for blackberries? I have a small business of electricians. Only about 8 guys, 3 trucks. So instead of installing something, thought if there was something for the GPS blackberry units, we can use that and still message, etc.

I found this site, but it doesn't list where we can download the software or sign up: blackberrytracking.blogspot.com

Anyone tried it? Or have something else to recommend?

Might want to check the GPS Section. You can also use the search function.

we offer a mobile app for your blackberry that allows your electricians to capture data from the field and report it in real time. As for you, you can access your account online to track them and communicate with them so that you can monitor your field operation in realtime. check it out and if you have any questions please contact me.

Check out Google Latitude. It will even work with non-GPS BBs depending on your carrier.

You should be aware that Google offering is good but needs the cell tower location software internal to the cell phone to offer location. The actual location can be off buy a great distance ( miles )depending on the number of cell sites the phone "sees". It sounds like your trying to track your employees to make sure they are on the job. I would use a commercial product that will give you location accuracy.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

Try google, its free and if it works then great if not then buy one of those other programs.

With google, you can track them on the PC so you don't have to view it on your BB if you don't want to.

Actually, it will use GPS (built-in or external) if available.

Tracking will be limited based on your carrier as well. I know Verizon and I believe AT&T both limit the use of the GPS hardware. Verizon cripples it entirely so that you are forced to subscribe to their VZ Navigator (which DOES NOT enable the GPS device). Both AT&T and Verizon also offer a service that provides location reporting.

I think Sprint leaves the GPS enabled without any intervention.

Check InstaMapper - Free Real-Time GPS Tracking you just need to install a little client on the device and it report every 10-500 seconds, it works fine, but the client needs to be launched on the blackberry manually, I still have not figured out how to force it to launch at startup

Regards

To launch at startup, download the latest version, go to settings, check "Auto-start on boot".
