Hi,
We had a bit of a *cough* hiccup, whereby we had 2 BES 4.x servers for Exchange (2003 sp2) using the same SRP, and RIM cut us off. They have subsequently reconnected us and we've now acquired another license and SRP. What I want to do is to change the SRP on my BES with minimal interruption to my 30 odd handheld users. Has anyone gone through this and have any words of advice?
thanks,
Steve.
Never had to change an SRP myself, but you should be able to stop the blackberry services, change the SRP key, then restart the services again.
The SRP is registered with the srp.??.blackberry.net address when it first connects. If you make the change on the second BES, considering that it has never really been used and leave your original BES along, it should be fine.
My best guess is that you will have to re-activate every single device, hopefully, you can get all your users to do it wirelessly. Once you change SRP, I believe the existing Service Books on the devices will no longer allow your BES to talk to those devices because the various Service Books will be tied to the original SRP. If you have a TSupport contract, I would call them before proceeding.
