Touch pad coating wearing off and loosing sensitivity
Please Login to Remove!
I have had the phone for about 8-months and as of a month or two ago the coating on the touch pad has begun to wear off. As it is wearing off it seems to be slowly loosing its sensitivity, I have to make multiple finger swipes to get the cursor across the screen occasionally with the sensitivity turned all the way up.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Also, as a bandaid to the problem you can also adjust the sensitivity. If its a hardware issue, and you are unable to get a replacement, check out Horizon Wireless who has helped many of our users.

Cleaning has done nothing and the sensitivity is all the way up. I am going to get a replacement just trying to figure out if it's a common problem and going to happen again.

There's a coating? Seriously? I don't see any kind of wear on my touchpad. I'm curious what OP is seeing/what it looks like.

No wear on mine either and I've had it since Feb, I think. I use a really light touch on mine, though.

Holy smokes! Your thumb did that? Are you playing brickbreaker 20 hours a day?
No kidding, I'm really surprised. My touch pad looks the same as when I took the new BlackBerry out of the box.

Same here.
Are you using any kind of holster? If so, what kind? Does it rub on that trackpad?

Ha, I don't game on it but do use it quite a bit, I wouldn't say an out of the ordinary amount though.
I also only use my thumb on the pad and no holster. Maybe it is my work hardened hands...who knows. I'm hoping it is a defective batch.

If no holster, could it be rubbing against a pocket (or wherever you keep it normally)?

Are you sure that's not something on it instead of something wearing off? To be wearing off it would seem it must be painted or coated and it appears to be just solid plastic.

No other areas show any signs of wear I think it's fairly unlikely that it is from me pocket.
I'm an ME and work in plastics, it is definitely a coating.

As far as pocket issue, I leave my phone in my pocket and never had an issue with touchpad. Just return it.
