Default NEXTEL Blackberry Service

Does anyone know when the NEXTEL portion of Sprint will stop working? Some where I saw some time in 2010 as that's when the radio licenses expire. Currently Sprint and NEXTEL Service is separate except for a few phone that use the Direct Connect.

I just switched over to 100% Sprint over a month ago and it sucks so bad. I want to go back to the NEXTEL Network as I never had any issues!! The service is so erratic it's not even funny any more on Sprints Network. I have the "Simply Everything Plan" for the 99.99 a month. So I can talk, SMS, MMS and surf until the cows come home for the 100 bucks. With other carriers it's going to cost me upwards of 150.00 for the same services. I had the same plan on my NEXTEL Blackberry. With my new Sprint Blackberry the calls just drop, no warning, garble, nothing. My brother made a commit the other day after several phone calls of being disconnected that with my new Sprint device that Sprint may have the ability to kill the call when they detect too much usage? As silly as it sounds I'm beginning to think that's the issue. I don't use the browser much at all, just the BIS and phone portion. I use about 1500 minutes a month, which I don't consider an abundant amount of time. When I make the calls I have 3 bars on the meter, which I know is not dead on. But when I make the call, the meter starts to drop to lost signal. I'm head to the Sprint store today to see if they can locate the problem. Any suggestions most helpful.

I just recently switched to Sprint from Nextel as well. Never had issues with Nextel BB. I had a 7520 that was so solid and never dropped calls or anything. I am on my second 8330M and I drop at least one call a week. Good Luck to you.

Mine was the 7520 as well! A great work horse! Worked great, even in places I never thought it would. Even in places were other providers did not work! People would ask what kind of phone I was using, I would reply an oldie but goodie!

I did take the phone up to the sprint store and complained about the service. As I suspected, they were about as helpful as a hemroid! They did go through the phone and see if the settings were correct. Most stores have repeaters in them to boost the signal, so of course the dam thing worked correct. I bet you most people are not aware of that little known feature.

I've noticed the amount of traffic in the Sprint stores to be little to none. the entire time while I was int he store at lunch time nobody was in it. Yet the Verizon and AT&T stores have people swarming around them as if they are giving stuff away!

I know from reading articles in the local paper that Sprint is loosing customers (1.5 million) by the boat load and they are being real creative in trying to retain and lure customers back to them. As I see it they have a long way to go still with the customer service, which is so piss poor it's not funny either. Also read on another site that Sprint and RIM are in a pissing contest, as Sprint is pushing it's other divices vs the Blackberry's.

Sprint was the last carrier to add the BlackBerry to their lineup.

That figures! Last at everything else too! Wish they would improve the network before they start beating the bushes for more suckers I mean customers to sign on! Also customer service needs to jacked up too! Everyt hing runs fine until you get involved with CS, once that starts it's over with. My wife and kids are on AT&T and have Blackberry's. They bend over backwards on every call, where as Sprints underlying motive seems to get you off the line as soon as possible as if they have some insentive to do so. I bet if you were to look into it I bet you would find out there is!! It took three days to switch over my NEXTEL 7520 to the Sprint 8830 as they hosed up the BIS so dam bad. At that point I should have walked!

I switched from Nextel a few years ago and I too miss the service. As many complaints as there were about Nextel, the service worked well for me and I didn't have too many problems with the phones... I loved my i860. The only dead spot I had was inside my work, and as my luck goes when I switched to Sprint they installed signal boosters in the building because the bosses had Nextel.
