Still having problems. VZ says they are working with Blackberry on this issue, they even have an "engineer" working on it!

Just got off the phone with RIM via our Premium support Tier, yeah they are calling this a "verizon" issue, funny thing, it's a he said she said argument, as when i spoke to the Verizon rep, he said it's a "nation wide" issue that RIM has affected all carriers, good job to the tier 2 tech to make up that BS story hah!

::sigh:: oh well.

I don't know about the west coast, but Verizon lost ALL service in Virginia today. Voice and data. Supposedly it's been "mostly" restored by now.

I finally found an answer after calling customer retention on VZ. There is a switch outage which affects berry users. Will be fixed Wed...or so I hope.

Week-Long Verizon BlackBerry Outage Caused by “System Update”? - SlashGear
Hey Daphne

Yes, me and some of my other colleagues are fine too, but you have to consider en mass, i literally got over 10 calls today all saying the same symptoms, plus considering we are a support environment, some of our users don't think much of it to call us to let us know, and considering that we found out by questioning all of them, this has been happening for quite sometime. I just hope they resolve this sooner than "Wednesday" , but honestly, a "switch" issue? come on... there's more to this obviously and we're just sitting in the dark till they magically say it's fixed.

We have just shy of 200 users on a BES. Most are Verizon.

We've been getting reports for about a week of e-mails not coming through. A battery pull always fixed it.

Last week I was traveling in Ohio and Indiana with the guy in charge of the BES over a 3 day period. He had to pull his battery twice; I never did. The only thing different was that he was driving and I was surfing on my bb.

Today we had some time to work with a user and really dig into our BES logs.

We had two users with the issue. One was home with a sick child. This user was not moving, was receiving phone calls. She indicated that she had not received e-mails most of yesterday and that a slew came through at 12:43am.

In looking at the BES MAGT logs, I could see " Last HH Contact: 01/24/2011 11:55:57 AM" all yesterday afternoon, up until 12:43am this morning. Then, I had "coverage state=in coverage." That changed to "coverage state=out of coverage" at 3:44am.

When I spoke with her this morning, she was not seeing any mail come through. I had her check the "Mobile Network" setting under "Manage Connections." It showed good.

I had her see if she could browse. She could without issue.

However, as soon as she browsed, I got a "coverage state=in coverage" in the MAGT logs and e-mail went through.

Looking at other times we have had this issue recently, we are seeing the same thing. The battery pull is getting us back to "coverage state=in coverage." I'm not sure that is needed, though.

It's almost like Verizon is dropping phones off the internet connection unless they request data. Since the BES is push instead of pull, it isn't getting through to the phone until something happens to put the phone back on the internet.

To go back to my trip. Person sitting next to me with the same phone as I had was having to pull battery to get e-mail, but he was also not browsing or forcing an internet connection like I was.

The battery pull is a joke of a solution from Verizon as well as "re register" to the network under host routing, they just need to fix this asap! since they have this new TWO phase fix deployment which they already executed the first phase early this morning, i hope that the second phase (tonight/wednesday early morning) will get the job done!

I haven't noticed any issues in the last few weeks, but found it odd that when I checked my 'berry this morning the last email I received was 9:01pm. I normally have several automatic emails that get sent to me overnight, but I didn't get them this morning.

Good think I'll be home today to check my laptop instead.

In talking to others, it seems to be affecting other carriers as well.

No emails (in or out) since 1:49am Eastern for me today.

No emails since 730pm last night for me. Called Verizon and they had no clue. Suggested *228, which obviously didn't work, and suggested I call back tomorrow if I am experiencing the same issue.
