So to stop the confusion above, google talk only supports American accounts opened and not British accounts, unless theres another UK user thats connected without any problems.....
Ohh, OK. Yes, I have an @gmail.com account.

But other apps that connect to the net, like Opera Mini, etc. don't see to work with O2.

Default T Mobile

Hello.

I just notice this thread and was hoping I could get some advice from the UK.

I live in Southern California and plan on doing some international travel with an 8700 device. From what I have read thus far it appears T Mobile is my best choice. However, I have not had very much luck finding info on the international coverage. Can someone please provide some feedback from the UK or anywhere else they have experience in traveling?

My two choices in the US are T Mobile or Cingular.

Thanks for the help!

I have used T-mo all over Europe and Scandinavia without a problem. They have local agreements with everyone, everywhere, so you will always get a phone connection. I'm not sure how good the data coverage is but this link should help you

Make sure you get a good plan before you go. It's really expensive to roam.

Great to have UK thread. Thanks for the advice on Gtalk. I've been after that info for ages. I'm now using Yahoo IM on my 8700V on Vodafone. Just waiting for the 8707 which is due anytime now.

You'll have to give us a view on the 8707 when you get it: the 8700 is briiliant in my view

Default Hi from London

Hi All UK BB users.
Just got my first ever BB. 8700g on O2 uk.

Getting to grips with the whole BIS thing, and have managed to forward my works Lotus Domino account and my gmail account to the BIS set up filters to stop newsletters appearing on the BB. I appear to be one of the lucky ones to have a gmail email and thus have google talk running. I try sending an invite to myself and try changing the country but it still appears to understand I'm in the UK and wants to have a googletalk address. I changed my country for the main gmail account to US a while back as the new improvements that start to trickle through appeared to hit US accounts first, which worked.

Not managed to get BBreply working though

Anyway impressions of the BB are fantastic. A friend is not impressed as he feels MS Mobile 5 with Goodlink is far better, but my experiences with Pocket PC's have put me off and all I hear about BB is that "It just works" which is what you want at the end of the day.

Still a bit concerned at what the first bill is going to be like from O2

Oh well off to join the masses of addicts on the London underground and train services.
Cheers
Ro
PS are there any other UK threads, I seem to get errors searching for O2 or UK

As long as you're not hammering loads of apps that need HTTP access I wouldn't worry about bills for data!!!

I was with O2 until a few months ago when I decided to get rid of my Treo 650. I wanted a Blackberry 8700 for stability and email, which it does
very well.
However O2 could not come near to the deals T-Mobile were doing.
I'm paying 25 for 400 mins anytime
7.50 for unlimited data (2Gb fair usage)
10 for BIS and BES.

So far in the past couple of months I have had the phone I've been extremely
pleased with it.
Mike
