Default Battery draning unbelievably fast

Please Login to Remove!

okay so on friday i took my phone off the charger at 6:30 am and went to school with a full battery, by 9:30 or so my battery was completly dead with no use what so ever. Over the weekend the battery did not do anything weird. This morning i took the phone off the charger around 5 and before even leaving for school i noticed the battery was draining quick with barley any use, it dropped 20% before 6 o clock and i only made a 4 minute call. Im in school now and the battery is dead and it has just been sitting in my pocket. Why is it doing this? i havent been doing anything differently and it has never drained this quick before. Usually i will leave school with 90-95% battery. can someone please help, thanx in advance

Ah, well that would help, since you didn't mention this in your statement either.

Or maybe you have several data intensive apps running in the background.

And please update your profile to reflect the correct device. This really helps when you have a problem.

How many apps are you running on a typical day?

Well, I just bought the 8520 today. My battery also drained really fast but that was because by default, Wi-Fi, Maps, EDGE, etc, etc is auto enabled assuming you have a data connection. ALL of those features are extreme battery drainers so when not using them, you kinda have to turn all that stuff off in order to get the "advertised" rate.

Well, that explains everything. You need to talk with an authorized help line. I can only help you so much. The only thing I am is a little bitter. I am currently recovering from being scammed by a "friend" I had from high school and just recently found out I am not the first who has ever been in this situation with the same shady individual. I don't wanna waste your time, so if it's important, feel free to ask. I really do want to become some sort of manager/moderater in the future as I am very outgoing and whatnot but yeh. You can decide what you want about me and if I don't like it, I can just go somewhere else. I made the decision (privilege) to come here and it may be revoked at any time. "Beggars can't be choosers"

Thanks for your time in reading this. Talk to you later. Feel free to contact me via BB PIN 21r668C5. or [email address] Bye.

Bluespirit,

My wife's 8520 is also doing the same thing - it has been working fine with much better battery life than my Bold. However, since Tuesday it has started to get warm and drained it's battery very quickly.

FYI she only has the standard apps running in the background, and the facebook app, which she only opens as needed (double checked that it wasn't running in the background).

I plan to do a FW update tonight, if that doesn't fix it we'll likely take it back for a replacement.

Cheers,

P.

Wirelessly posted (7100g)

For the benefit of forum readers, we ended up doing a full device wipe, upgraded to OS .318 and did a selective restore (contacts, calendar, wifi profiles, 1 or 2 others). Facebook & BBM 5 were redownloaded fresh OTA.

This appears to have done the trick cured the problem for us, so it was ultimately a software problem of some description.

Cheers,

P.

Have you got WiFi and Bluetooth turned on permanantly. Their battery killers.
