bro its sales they will do anything to sell a product just like car salesmen and retail salesmen thats the nature of the beast.

and really do you expect a just above minimum wage sales person to really care about the product hes selling. Most of them are only there for the free servcie.

I have had every carrier and they all lie.

Maybe this is old news but if you go through the motions of buying a BB 8130 on the Verizon website on the features page you can select "VZ Navigator" for $9.99/month. The description says:

Quote:
VZ Navigator
VZ Navigator provides all the features of an advanced navigation system on your mobile phone at a fraction of the price of other Global Positioning Services (GPS) devices and systems. VZ Navigator provides: heads-up, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions (with auto-rerouting if you miss a turn); local search of nearly fourteen million points of interest (POIs) in the U.S.A.; and detailed color maps that can be quickly panned and zoomed. With VZ Navigator you will know where you are, know what's around you, and know how to get there.

In addition to subscribing to the feature, you will need to download the application in order to utilize its services.Download, subscription and airtime required for use; only in National Enhanced Services Coverage Area; accuracy and completeness of info is not guaranteed; info about location of device will be used to deliver service.
I'm pretty disappointed there isn't an alternate plan available. $10/month for something I'm going to use once every six months doesn't make sense.

Did you know there's an OS update available for your phone? Get it and see if that fixes VZNav issues on the 8703e.

Default Enough Already

The really sad part about this, relative to the 8830, is that Verizon Wireless took something that was working and broke it. Then a smoke screen was sent out about how the internal GPS could give out someones position. Two problems with that, one is the e911 service as required by our government and second Verizon sells a service called "Chaporone" so that you can track your kids and anyone else for that matter. Next there has been a continuing series of rumors and information from Verizon that never come true. Finally, we are being asked if we want to op out of having Verizon sell our phone logs.
Enough already.

At this point the management of Verizon would be better off going on TV and stating that their minds have been invaded by aliens from Pluto. At least that might be more believable.

It's about time this entire thread be moved to Rants and Raves, even Dawg appears to be getting frustrated.

Hey, since it's 4.2 does it give you the ability to separate your SMS and Email boxes now?

Haha... are you trying to tell me how to do this...? I know that, I just wanted to see if the new 8703e OS also implemented this since the 4.2 update for GPRS Pearls enabled this. It was more curriosity on my part.

As far as this GPS crap goes, I say if Verizon dosen't enable the feature, then we should all band together and protest. We should go to the media, flood customer care with our calls until something is done. This crap isn't right, but its even more wrong if we sit here and take it.

Where have you been the past six months many other VZW 8830 users were flooding this Forum with that same complaint... it's a tired old subject. Lawsuits and threats of class actions suits and the many protests and phone-call-ins have resulted in ?

Good luck, go for it. And, welcome to the Forums.
