I was going to complain bitterly about the program not logging me into google talk. I searched for an hour for a fix. Then I realized that I had mistyped my password. So, since I can't complain about user error, let me say this....

The built in upgrade worked like magic! Kodus on a great app!

Kai,
I got the same error below. I sent you the log. It also logs me off after the error.

I received the email from Kai this afternoon and I installed the .20 right the way. I tested the URL in the chat window. It worked great.

So far, I have not had any issues.

What's in this build:

- Hyperlink support for URLs. In the chat window, the application will automatically scan messages for any "http://", "https://" or "www", and turn them into hyperlinks. Clicking on the hyperlink should automatically launch the BlackBerry browser. (Note, there is a bug that causes this to not work in the chat history view, which should be fixed in the next build).
- Bug fixes for non-buddy messages being dropped when the application is in the background.
- Compatibility with Pre-4.1 OS devices. (Note, this is NOT the blank screen bug)
- Much better auto-reconnect and 503 error handling
- New clustered servers with auto failover, so the client should no longer be affected by server recycling events.
- Alt-scroll for pg-up and pg-down in the buddy list on trackwheel devices. On the pearl, it's left/right with the track wheel.

I will send out an announcement to the beta distribution list shortly.

Kai

The hyperlink works like a charm. I like the selecting buddies to chat with in another conversation. However, scrolling left/right on my pearl doesn't seem to do anything. I tried ALT-scroll LEFT/RIGHT and just LEFT/RIGHT. It doesn't do anything.

left and right should trigger page up and page down in the buddy list window.

in the chat window left/right doesn't do anything except move between the other active conversations.

on the pearl, for both the chat window and the buddy list, you can also use 3 for page up, 7 for page down, 1 to top, 9 to bottom. for the chat window, you have to be out of the text box in order for this to work, inside the textbox suretype takes over.

I'm also using the 8100 and I'm able to use the ALT scroll right/left for the track ball with no problems...the hyper link support in build .20 is excellent, waiting anxiously for this feature to be implemented in logs in future builds...

I've been using jivetalk for 3 days now, starting at .17 build up to .20 now... This app definitely beats ramble out of the game when it comes to the aim client...I'm blown away by its ability to maintain such a stable connection for long periods of time, especially the known flaky clients googletalk... For a free app like this, I can deal without the fancy extras but I give much kudos to kai for the ongoing hard work! Thank you Kai!!!!

If they would charge for a fee, I would still pay for it as long as it would be an one-time fee. This program is excellent and the creator should deserve some business from the users.

i like how it doesnt kill my battery like the other clients ive used.

so far so good....

still wondering if you are able to make it so we can see if someone is idle but not away..

will groups be available as well? it would be nice to be able to keep the groups some of us use for larger buddy lists.

Thanks for all your hardwork!

Thanks Kai for providing this and allowing us all to test for you.

Yes, this is a bug im experiencing as well and would love to see a fix on the following build as im usually busy most the time and like to let anyone see my current status. KUDOS again for this great application.

P.S. Sorry if this has been suggested before but i would love to see when someone is typing back. Also, is there a way of having a notification icon on the homescreen lettting you know which program is running ? if not all? Another suggestion is, i see that in the latest build (5.20) when you receive an IM in AOL and the user has not been added as a buddy it only gives you 3 options , ignore, cancel and i believe is accept? can an option to actually add the buddy be added?

Hope im not asking for too much but this is BY FAR the best IM program to date, GREAT JOB AT THE LAB!!!!!!!

When you end the conversation, the program will give you the option to add the person to your buddy list.

just got my link to beta, thanks man.
first 5 min review...

omfg... this is so far the best im client i've used so far... and this is from 5 min of use. everything logged in quick w/o a hitch. msgs were sent/recieved quickly.

i went straight and deleted google chat w/ the multi im setup.

i thought i'd never find a dedicated aim that was free and easy to use, thank you for this.

Default Error alert

Would it be possible to turn off the sound that comes on when you fail to log in? When I try to login and due to lack of coverage or another reason it fails, a loud beep goes off when the error message comes up. Even though I set my profile on silent, this continues to happen.

Thanks
