Do most users here use their BB as their cell phone? I am thinking they do, but wanted to confirm. How do you compare it to your previous cell phone with respect to reception, clarity, etc.? Many people have told me that it solely depends on carrier. Here in the North NJ/NY area, Verizon is king. However, a few people I know who stepped up to a BB and use it as their cell phone tell me that it is not as good as their previous cell phone.

This is not exclusive to Verizon. I have been told the same thing for at least one, perhaps two other carriers.

What's the opinion here? Thank you.

I love my BB as a phone. The only complaint I have is that it can be a little quiet.

My 6710 is my "business" cell phone and it performs flawlessly. No volume issues and it's actually pretty comfortable.

I carry a verizon cell phone with my ATT BB. I work in NYC and live in Westchester County. For me it came down to having certainty with respect to coverage as voice is more important to me than data.

I tried the Blackberry 7780 but really couldn't get used to the blocky type thing as a phone. I now have the 7100T from Tmobile and love it. Great speakerphone, bluetooth headset capability, and it is more phone shaped.

Definitely use the 7100t as your only cell phone. The T-Mobile plan is a steal -- minutes & mail.

I am using the VZW 7750 as my cellphone. At first I was very hesitant about using it as my cellphone (due to the size) and I was planning on using it just for the data, but after using it for a few days I found it was perfect for both.

The sound quailty is as good as any cellphone I have used (Samsung a530, a670, and LG VX3200). Clear and plenty loud enough.

I also have a 7750. I do not use the 7750 as my primary cell phone. Mostly because I don't carry the 7750 every where, but I do take my phone every where. When I do use it as my cell phone, I only use the head set because I've found the built in ear piece to be too finicky as to the placement of the ear. Just slightly off and I don't hear anything. This can become quite annoying when trying to walk and talk at the same time.

i use the 7280 with att. much better call holding than my motorola v600. i dont think ive ever even dropped a call with the bb. the clarity could be better though, but it gets the job done.



ps. i cant get a hold of the 7290!!!!

I use my BB 7780 as a cell phone, previously a BB 7280. Took a week or so to get use to the BB as a cell, I haven't looked back since!
