Default Problem w/ holster on 8703e pushing buttons & making backlight stay on

Please Login to Remove!

I have the 8703e, and the when I put the phone in the holster, it pushes speed dial butons, so now I have to lock the phone everytime. The backlight also stays on indefinately when in the holster, with a message that tells me how to unlock the screen. This is draining my battery so quickly that I can't get through the workday without a dead battery. When I have the phone out of the holster, the backlight goes off in the 20 seconds I have it set for. Is this normal, or could I perhaps have a deffective holster? What to do?Thanks.

The good holsters have a magnet in them to put the device to sleep so that you can't get accidental key presses, etc. Did the backlight go out prior to this when in the holster?

What kind of holster is it? OEM? Place the phone in the holster facing INWARDs, toward your belt or the clip. That is the intended way.

My bet is your are placing it facing outward.

You are absolutley correct. I was facing the phone out instead of in. Facing the phone toward my belt has definately fixed the problem. Thanks.

Welcome. I find it makes more sense anyway, personally for me, as when I pull it out of my holster it is facing the correct way in my hand, not having to flip it in my palm.

Welcome to the Forums, too.

I had the same learning curve. Somehow it seemed natural to face it out until I started looking at it closely (way before I discovered BBF). But even now facing inward, it still grabs enough buttons that I can't leave it in phone mode when I holster it because it will dial numbers. I have to put it in e mail mode and no great harm can be done.

Plus, when you get the extended battery, the humpback cover makes it even easier to grab out of the holster.
