Default My 8830 Can't tell time

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, this is becoming a slight problem, but my 8830 cannot tell time. How can a phone that is to travel the world, not keep the time correct.

Now before I get the obvious anwser to go into settings/date time I have done that. I have set it to network, I have set it to Blackberry and to off. No matter what I set it at, my phone is always two or three minutes behind after a few days, and I have to go in and manually tell it to update time. I don't think if I have it set to Network or Blackberry as the Date/Time source that it should fall out of sync, but it does.

Has anyone else experienced this, is this a common thing with Blackberry that they cannot do a sync with the network or even their own blackberry servers?

mastdog, try setting your source to BlackBerry, for me that keeps it "more" correct. But to answer your question, your BB will not auto sync with the network time unless you go in and tell it do so.

Thanks Joe

I guess I should have known the Sith Master would know the solution. That is so odd that it does not auto sync, but I will just have to be more aware of that and make it part of my weekly habits to sync the time.

Thank!!

lol, I AM not the Sith Master. Jedi Nut, maybe.

I have never noticed mine behind in time, (just now I checked and it is a minute ahead of Network Time, which I like).

Also, I will look around, you might also, I have seen one of the Atomic Clock sync applications around here somewhere, likely in the Aftermarket Software section. Probably a good idea to install.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

If it doesn't somehow sync with timesource (either network or blackberry) then my 8700 sure behaves as if it does. Just looked and it is to the minute with my watch (which is one of those that syncs with the atomic clock thingamajig). Once in a while I notice it's off by a minute and I do the adjust time, but I haven't done that in a while.

FWIW there have been posters before complaining about BB not keeping time even with time source set to network or blackberry. So far I haven't seen explaination. But that's me.

this is by no means an extensive test, but in my experience the first time the BB is turned on it tells you to confirm date and time. if you do this and the device is set to Blackberry as the source, i have never had it keep time perfectly. If however you confirm the date/time as Network, in my experience, it keeps time to the network

Thanks for the reminder, Sith, while I rarely turn mine off, I do see that on reboot when I do. But the BB doesn't sync with network time on some regular basis.

Another option is to make your BB isn't set to sync time with your computer in Desktop Manager. If your computer has the incorrect time for any reason, it'll set that time to your BB when you connect to DM.

Hello there, I'm having that issue also, my phone is set to Network and it doesn't update itself, even though the "Network" field displays the correct time. Is there a setting I'm missing here? Its kinda retarded because I change time zones almost daily and I need my phone's alarm to adjust to this overnight.

Any ideas?

Thanks =)

Yeah, I have the same problem with my 8310 Curve, which is annoying. I called AT&T about it, and they told me to install the 2007 Calendar Patch, but then couldn't help me install it OTA. They then wanted to ship me a new BB. I told them to hold off on shipping a replacement, and I would install the calendar patch over USB when I got home from work. After looking at some of the calendar patch info, I think their suggestion might be bogus, anyway. I'm running 4.2.2.170. Has anyone else heard anything similar about the calendar patch?

that patch was for the day savings thing that the President put into place with an executive order. It has nothing to do with the current time settings.
