Please Login to Remove!

1 - Connect handset to computer via USB.
2 - Install Desktop Manager 4.0 software.
3 - Install Handheld 4.0 software.
4 - Step 2 should have the option to open Desktop Manager at the end of installation. Check it.
5 - Desktop Manager should prompt to install latest software.
- If not, then double-click on Application Loader.
- If this has no updates, close Desktop Manager and go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete or rename Vendor.xml. Open Desktop Manager.
6 - Install handheld software to handheld (automated, just about).
7 - If you want to resolve IM issue, disconnect handheld from computer and follow steps a few posts above.

BES

I can still open attachments, but I just sent myself a couple jpegs an it shows the attachment, but doesn't give me the option to open it.

I did install the 4.0 handheld codes already that is why I am wondering why I cannot open image attachments, but thanks for the reply. Also, the IM fix didn't seem to resolve but I will play around more once I get home from work.

...I've had the desktop mgr 4.0 for some time already.

Go to your T-Mobile BWC, click Profiles link, and click "Send Service Book" to get your service books retransmitted.

Also on your 7100t, go to Tools->Host Routing Tables->Register Now.

I fixed the IM issue simply by removing the Service Book, InstantMessaging module and the Instant Messaging application.

- Settings > Options > Service Book
- Highlight T-Mobile USA IM Client Application > Trackwheel > Delete
- Settings > Options > Applications
- Click on Trackwheel > Modules
- Highlight InstantMessaging > Delete
- Click Back
- Highlight Instant Messaging application > Trackwheel > Delete

This should prompt you to restart the handset. Do so. If not, remove the battery and restart. It *should* grab this Service Book back and then reload the software OTA (in my case, it did).

If this doesn't fix it, then I would suggest loading the missing module via javaloader and then repeating the steps above.

Is it normal for my device to just be sitting there with no progress on screen or arrows moving on the device...when at step "retrieving module GooglME$2d2.cod" and "retrieving wireless delivered application modules" as part of the backup OTA applications step in the updating your handheld window?

Is my loader hung?

thx
jeff

Just loaded 4.0. Now I have an Enterprise Activation icon. I am BWC.
How do I rid myself of this option.

I know I must have checked an option on install that I did not want.

Please, help.

Thanks.

Default Please help an idiot (me)

I was so excited to see the release of the 4.0 client for the 7100 that I temporarily lost the use of my brain, apparently.

I forgot to install the 4.0 desktop first. So I ended up installing the 4.0 client with the 3.6 desktop. BAD IDEA.

Now the BlackBerry is acting oddly, and there are some rather important things missing. Tasks and Memo Pad are gone, as is Turn Bluetooth on/off.

I am using BES 4.0 thru Mailstreet, and everything important is on the Exchange server, so I am not worried about loss of data.

What can I do to wipe the thing clean and start over?

Thank you.

It fixes a lot of issues, but it also still has known issues as well. I'll start another thread with that information when I get a chance.

It helps if you scroll down in the app installer. Duh.

The O2 theme will now render correctly in 4.0... for those that care.

I am using it now... this is the best theme I have seen yet! Best part is, I had created my own theme loader file, and updated it to include the O2 file I got from your site... it uploaded the O2 theme automatically when it upgraded my device to 4.0.

Awesome!

Check out the Avatar...

I have the same issue mentioned above - regarding the Enterprise Activation Icon. I am BWC as well and I know I checked the right option. Any suggestions?

Hide the Enterprise Activation icon. Press the ALT key and click the trackwheel and hide it. No more icon

Thanks

The icon itself takes very little memory. The activation sofware however I imagine takes a bit, but wouldn't be feasible to remove from the device.
