I used to carry two. At my previous job, they supplied a BBerry so I had that and a personal cell phone, each on one side of my hip. Was a good way to keep my personal calls separate from work ones.
No big deal, except that it sometimes felt a little awkward when I was sitting in a car, for example. First I had the 7290 and a RAZR, but then I went to 7100 and RAZR, which was much better. I'd carry both all the time.
May break down and buy an 8700 and go back to two devices (currently have a Nokia phone). Mainly because I like my current # and Fido (in Canada) doesn't offer BBerry service. Number portability is coming, but isn't here yet.

Oh...OK that makes sense. I knew there had to be a valid reason.
I'm a software developer too and know EXACTLY what you mean! As soon as they relax the rules to allow me to come to work in my boxers and a tank top will be the happiest day of my life!!!
And BTW....*I* wear cargo pants too! ;)

I have a small cell phone (through sprint) and the 8700c (cingular), I can't get away from Sprint right now - everyone I need to talk to has it, and it is for my other job. My 8700 is for work and personal life

Well for me it os one of 3. BB 8700, Mot Razr V3i or the Moto A780. Hve to put the 8700 to rest on weekends as I want to run away from work so the 3i serves that purpose, the A780 is also used on an occasional basis. When I travel, it will be 2 the 8700 and the 3i and each will have its own SIM in it.

When I'm overseas, my RAZR will have the local SIM and my BB has my TMO SIM, obviously two different numbers at that point.

8700C for data only, RAZR for voice. I found out that with the 8700 converged, I did not like the feel when I talked (like holding a calculator to my face), and carrying it around I kept checking the email all the time (Yeah, I know). I now carry the RAZR and leave the 8700C in my briefcase, and check it regularly - and on weekends only a couple times.

I carry two. Both T-Mobile SIMs. My company provides me with phone service only, but I use my own phones instead of the v188 they issued me. I normally carry my L6 or RAZR with that SIM during the week, and it is not carried at all on the weekend. My personal SIM is in my 8700c during the week, and usually in something else on the weekend. I prefer to use the RAZR, L6, Nokia 6260, Samsung E880. That SIM does double duty as my house phone because I travel so much.
When I travel internationally, I take my Nokia 6630 so that I can take advantage of UMTS networks. I may soon add a Samsung Z510 to the UMTS stable though.

2 devices.... TMO 7290 (soon 2b 8700) and Nextel i870. The best of both worlds- unlimited data bb only plan 29.99 and free incoming 300 w/ unlimited NW DC 39.99...

8700 for emails and as pda...samsung a-900 as basic phone and music/videos/tv.
What's important is 8700 is cingular, a-900 sprint...so if one doesn't work well somewhere, odds are the other does.

I use my 7230 for both voice and e-mails. I got tired of swapping SIM cards between it and my RAZR...so i sold the RAZR. Patiently waiting for the 8700g. I must admit it was a bit awkward to use the 7230 for voice but I got so used to it that talking on a regular phone seems odd nowadays>>>go figure.

I hate having so many numbers and really, I'm not trying to carry that many devices either. If you don't like to hold your BB to your ear (never had a problem with that), get a bt headset! just my two cents though.
