You are so wrong about "no one suffer[ing]." I have been suffering for weeks waiting for T-Mo to release its 8800. Not even buying an unlocked 8800 for $600 didn't abate my suffering. I WANT A T-MO 8800. When the hell is it going to be released?!

Vendor-specific OS is irrelevant on Blackberries. For one, the carrier-specific configurations are handled by the service books and not the OS load. You can also load any carrier's OS on any Blackberry as long as the model is the same.

The 8800 will never have WiFi. The 8820 will. All models will have the same features. If a model has an additional (or fewer) features it will have a different model number than the one you're comparing it to.

Are you serious?? With all the real suffering going on in the world can you honestly say you're suffering because you can't buy something that's not released yet?

I guess YMMV but if unlocking a device and bringing it over isn't good enough for you you'll just have to wait to get the same device with different logos.

As long as the vendor .alx file is deleted, otherwise you're asking for trouble.

There is no verified model other than the 8800 in this series. When posters refer to the 8800 with WiFi, etc, they are referring generally to the 8800-series.

Default Has anyone heard?

Has anyone heard anything about when or where T-Mobile will release the 8800? I have heard that the units are being delivered to stores here and there in the Chicago area and that the units are locked up and not even talked about.

It's all been speculation and no one has any confirmation of when Tmo will actually have it.

Mid to late April is the latest release date that I heard from my contact over there. But who knows. Things change all the time.

On a somewhat related note, I saw a post over on Boy Genius that essentially said we could break cntract w/ T-Mobile without paying the ETF. If this is true, then I'm inclined to switch to Cingular so that I can get the 8800 now. Does anyone have any additional info on this?

Okay folks!!!

Just heard from a RIM rep at a TMO vendor meeting that TMO will be releasing the 8800 for B2B and upgrades only. When questioned about the 8300 the RIM rep clammed up tighter than Fort Knox!!!

And my T-Mobile contact told me they weren't releasing the 8800 at all!

There is quite allot of misinformation coming out of T-Mobile. Its frustrating.

Default T-Mobile UK has 8800

FWIW, I got my 8800 on 23 March 2007 directly from T-Mobile UK (on a business contract). They apparently received them for release within a day or two of that. What this indicates for the USA I cannot say, but it would seem hopeful, no?

I didn't know this specific forum was meant to be taken that seriously, especially
when it is merely stating what you know and feel about the topic.
Well, I guess I'd have to be careful in choosing words.

I tried to remain hopeful that TMO will have one of the 8800 series ASAP.
I am not SUFFERING but anxious to get my hands on a TMO one in the very very near future.

It is no indication at all. The different T-Mobile units decide on their own which devices they are going to introduce.

But mom, I want my 8800 now....lol....

Waiting for this or any other bb is like everything else, it'll come at one point or another and then RIM will put out the 9xxx series and we'll all want that one and speculate when tmo will get that...

For those of you have compared it with the 8700g, how much thinner/smaller is it?

I forget, does t-mo have an upgrade feature like sprints (if you had a 2yr contract you could upgrade with a discount in 22months from date of signing)?

Was in a T-Mobile store today getting a co-worker setup for Blackberry service (he is using a hand me down 7730 of all things, temporary thing) and my co-worker asked what one I had, and I said I had the 8700 but I can't wait to get the new one coming out. The guy working there instantly replies "the 8800". And I said "no, actually I am waiting for the 8300 series", which there was no reply to. At least the rep knew of the 8800, so maybe it is coming out soon.

Default stocking up

I think many of the T-Mobile stores have the 8800's in stock now but the process takes time. They wont release the units until every store has enough of them on hand.
We could be talking another week but surely within 2 weeks.

For what it's worth (and I know it's not much), a TMobile rep told me that they would not offer the 8800 in the stores. They would only be offered to corporate customers.
