I figure since I have a couple of degrees, I have earned the right to make up some of my own exspecially useful words.

It's the rebel in me.

The web site theinquirer.net (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19247) had a piece on 4.0 today. It lists it as coming soon. Generally when sites like this start showing interest, the product is in last stages before release as the journos get first look before the general public.

I still doubt it will be public for another 2-3 months at least. It has not been beta-tested against BES 4.0 yet. (Well, it's just starting to get beta-tested against BES 4.0 in the last 2 weeks or so). Just because they would out all the single user bugs doesn't mean there's bugs interacting with BES 4.0 they'll need to address before it goes public with the final release.

Anyone notice that when using midlets, if you press the 'phone' button it does not respond? You have to exit to a non-midlet to make that buttonm work.. this on 4.0

Default Browser

I saw it mentioned that 4.0 has the Blackberry browser included. I have service through AT&T and all I have is the MMode Browser.

Any ideas?

Yes 4.0 will have the BB Browser included, however once it is registered with a 4.0 BWC or 4.0 BES unfortunatly :(. The nice thing is, 4.0 BWC you won't need a BES/MDS for a lot of things, such as browsing. AT&T hasn't rolled out a 4.0 BWC yet.

Default Hot Keys

OK.

I think I have an issue in 4.0.

The hotkeys used in the message list (e.g., holding down the "T" key to go to the top of the message list) aren't working properly.

When you hold down any of the keys, they are utilized to dial from your speed dial list.

This is quite annoying.

I take it you mean that the 4.0 OS will allow the BB full access to web browsing, including HTML, the same as if one subscribed to BES/MES with a 3d party hosting service. If so, what things would you still need BES/MDS for once you have the 4.0 on your Berry? Finally, has Cingular rolled out a 4.0 BWC yet?

You won't need a 3rd party MDS as long as your provider has a public one like Rogers. BES is still good for exchange stuff.
