i have the 8703e bb and i set all my alerts to vibrate in holster. i changed it from vibe + tone to just vibe. however, under that there is a ring or tone that is set, but i am assuming that it doesnt matter since i have it set to vibrate only.

when i get an email my phone is in the holster and it vibrates, short tone, vibrates... i dont like that. when its in the holser i want it to vibrate, like it should be doing.

as far as i know it only does this for emails..

You can just set vibrate and it will not matter what is says under tone

You can customize them all under profiles... Set all alerts to vibrate and tone when out of holster and set all to vibrate ONLY when in holster

Thanks but that won't work because it will vibe when it isn't in the holster.

They are 2 different settings... Out of holster and In holster... Just tell it to do what you want

It work fine out of tjhe holster. All my settings for in holster are on vibe.

I read the 1st post and *if* your settings are correct then it should not react the way you described...

Check the settings and try a hard reboot... If you have it set to vibrate ONLY when IN the holster then that is exactly what it should do....

all settings are how i stated above. i did a hard reset, nothing...

every possible setting..

browser
calendar
message
massage alert
etc the other list of 5 or 6 more are all set to vibe only.

when i click on those i have the options to set in holster or not in holster.

this is where i am setting vibe at.

out of holster says vibe and tone

in holster just says vibe.

i just went through all of the types of alerts and everyone is set to vibe only.

the profile that i am using is loud.

Sounds to me like something is amiss..... It should be doing exactly as you tell it....

Have you tried setting volume to MUTE?

Have you chosen the proper profile.

The profile with the "vibrate only" while in holster must be chosen.

So, enter the profiles, choose the active profile, and since you seem to only want vibrate for messages/e-mails only, change "messages" and "Level 1 Messages" to Vibrate AND ALSO mute.

That is how I have it set up, and it works perfectly (well, my level 1s vibrate only, the regular messages don't do anything)

And, you really should check your attitude at the door. Everyone here is trying to help you. With out having the unit in front of us, WE have no idea what you have, and since you are unable to make the changes, it is quite possible that you are not telling us, or you have not actually changed, what has been told to you to change. We know how to do it, if you have done it, and it still doesn;t work, then either you haven't actually done it, or your unit is broken. I tend to think the former is what is happening, and not the later.

I dont have my device set for 100% vibe wired. I use a custom profile with out of holster with tune and when in the holster 100%vibe and it works like a charm. Sounds like you may have a defective OS try and run java commander and the reload OS and see what happens.

And I detected the attitude as well. He was just trying to help.
