Yes, it's a Blackberry Branded 655. They just included a standard issue BB folding blade charger with it and called it good. I'm enjoying the headset--it is very nice, just packaged kind of weird for where I bought it from.

Yeah, based on "the subject at hand", and the way everyone's receiving their supposedly "new" headsets from shopblackberry, looks like it "matters" there too, and a feedback system would be nice to warn folks there!

Do you recommend the oft-abused and manipulated feedback system eBay formerly employed or their current feedback method which requires a much higher level of creativity to distort? I'm sure RIM will take it under advisement.

Default Another HS-655 question - AAA charger tube?

Do the OEM HS-655's from shopblackberry.com come with the AAA battery charging tube, as the Plantronics 655 does, or not? From what I can read on shopblackberry, it appears not - and a dealer I'm buying one through says his aren't being shipped to him with the AAA adapter either.

No, mine did not come with that.

OK, thanks John - good to know. Another negative with the BB version vs. the Plantronics - I've REALLY gotten into the habit of using that charging method while carrying my 645 with me all day and would sorely miss it. Sure wish Plantronics would just solve the delay issue with their own 655. Fortunately, the tube from my 645 will work after I did some checking.

Your welcome. Here's the source:

"73649-01 AAA Charger Discovery 640 640E 645 655" in the parts list near the bottom of this webpage:

Plantronics Discovery 655 Bluetooth Headset

Lots of the other parts are interchangeable too, although interestingly not the earloop (which I don't use anyway.)

Default RIM HS-655 from mobile planet

I just received the RIM HS-655 from Mobileplanet today.

It came shipped in bubble wrap also! The charger came in a white box.

I have a question though, it maybe a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway:

On the sticker on the bubble wrap the headset came in it says:

655/Z Discovery, Headset, Rim.

I know Plantronics makes a 655 as does RIM, but why does it say Discovery?

Thanks.

Uhh, maybe because the shipping clerk at Mobileplanet thought it looked the same as the Plantronics Discovery version and wrote "Discovery" on the sticker when he wrapped it in bubble wrap?

I really doubt there's any deep, hidden meaning as to why Discovery was written on a piece of the packaging material.

uhhh....my Blackberry branded HS-655 from shopblackberry.com says, in fine print, on the back side of the headset "Plantronics Discovery 655." It's because it IS a Plantronics Discovery 655 with a few modifications for the BlackBerry, specifically, the Pearl. It is capable of voice dialing where the non-Blackberry branded one isn't.

As a side note, even though I wasn't impressed with the shipping and delivery, I am satisfied with the headset. It works quite well. However, the little case/charger thing is another story. Mine is cracked already where the charging adapters snap on. I called Shopblackberry for info on returning/exchanging, etc. and they told me I had to call 1-800-BLK-BERRY for an RMA. I called RIM and they called Shopblackberry and got the same answer but they don't know we are being told to call them. I am still waiting to hear back from RIM. I am going to avoid buying from shopblackberry. The only reason I did was because I didn't want to end up with a knock-off. However, the extra hassles with them aren't making it worth it to me. I paid a high price for the headset and am not impressed with the service behind it.

This is what I was looking for, thanks!

Not that I distrust mobileplanet, I just was taken aback when I saw "Discovery" on the packaging.

Thanks.

I'm sorry you had problems with shopblackberry. I hope it works out for you.

Hey all, I'm new here. New blackberry user here. I ordered mine from blueheadsets.com. It was a lot cheaper than BlackBerrys website and even cheaper than most people on eBay. I got it in like 3 days. I love it. I'm used to using the old 645 but this is 10 times better. As far as the AA charging cradle, I'm going to use my 645 one. It should work just fine. Looks like plantronics actually did a good job with the customized firmware/software for the BlackBerrys. So far so good with it though, I thought the battery sucked at first but that was because my charging cable wasn't in the wall (I'm an idiot). Besides, BlueHeadsets is great about returns so I have nothing to worry about.

Default H655 Packaging

Hi, I'm a BlackBerry accessories reseller at bbworld.biz

We've just taken stock of the H655 and it was reassuring to learn from this thread that it seems standard that the product comes bubble-wrapped. Frankly, I feel a tad embarrassed at having to sell a high-priced item in this way, but upon further enquiries, find we can buy retail packaging as "an extra" from RIM !!! This is a first!

I hope the "packaging" comes with instructions, but in the meantime, thanks to the person for posting the Plantronics pdf link.

Very very surprised further it doesn't come with a charger.....

....and mine came with a charger. No packaging or documentation, however. Seems odd they can sell it without the "safety documentation!" We all desperately need that stuff, you know!

I've had similar issues. If I let it sit for a while and then try to answer an incoming call sometimes I will hit the button on the headset and have it not connect. It stays paired with the two little arrows next to the "B" but just doesn't connect. I usually hit the menu key and select activate HS-655. It's a little annoying.

Glad to hear about the positibe Ebay experience. I have been toying with the same purchase but not sure of the quality, etc. After hearing about your experience, I just went ahead and committed to the purchase of $69.99 plus $8.95 shipping. Seems like an excellent deal to me!
