Default How much file free should I have?

Please Login to Remove!

First off, I've searched this and I've only come up with answers from other models of BlackBerry and I'm guessing that there's a difference between them.

I remember seeing a thread a while ago about memory and all that jazz and I looked at my File Free under status and it was a lot less than the people were saying they had. Like..a full digit or two less.

Right now I've got 21,150,791 bytes.
Also, my Application Memory free space is at 19.2 - is that bad?

EDIT: Forgot to ask - how many messages should I leave on my phone? I haven't deleted any since the day I got it and I got it the day it came out, heh. I'm guessing I should get rid of them.

after a battery pull, i generally have about 41megs of application memory free... after about a full day of texting, facebooking, Nav4all, and word mole, my free memory drops to 21megs... so i assume I have a memory leak somewhere.

After a battery pull I have 45,424,880 bytes of file free and 44MB of Application memory. You should definately delete any messages you dont need and run the memory cleaner. That should help out alot.

also, it all depends on how many apps you have installed/running in background

Free mem number is exactly that, its just a number. I used to obsess over keeping mine at as high ad possible but I never really noticed a difference in speed. I know when its time for a batt pull when everything starts slowing down. Usually one pull every three days or so. I honestly couldn't tell you where my free app mem usually is.

Not sure about quick pull. I use soft reset and have had no problems. Get it on crackberry.

I've got 2 apps running in the background. WeatherBug and VyMail.
When I go to Options>Status, my file free is at 9,727,928 bytes. That's low.
Application Memory Free Space is at 9.2MB.

I'll do a battery pull and post back with what I have afterword.

EDIT:
After battery pull, I have 35,613,304 bytes under file free and 33.9MB in Application Memory.
Wow. Just..wow.
One note I should make though is that whenever I do a battery pull, it takes a REALLY long time for it to start back up.

On my Curve, when my memory gets to zero my soft reset program gives me the same message. If I use it before the memory gets too low it works fine.

(I am searching now for a solution which is how I came upon this thread)
