Default 8100 problems with answering calls

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm a new blackberry user and the proud owner of a 8100 which I must say I relly like. Only problem I have is that when I answer a call it takes around three seconds for the caller to hear me leaving me sounding like an idiot as I repeat hello? hello? hello?

My boss is getting pretty annoyed everytime he calls!! I've never had a problem like this, is this a blackberry feature??

Thank you

al

Are you using one of the OS Updates. I have heard some are seeing this occasionally with the O2 update.

I had that issue with the original T Mobile OS but didn't have that lag with the Rogers or o2 OS update.

Yea, I definitely recommend going with the 02 update. It fixed several problems, including the voice lag at the beginning of a call...not to mention the trackball fix so that movement does not mute the ringer.

Search the forums for the 02 update. There are several threads with detailed instructions and info about the problems that were fixed with the updates.

Might be a silly question but is the O2 update only for users on the O2 network or can any blackberry utilise the update?

Anyone with an 8100 can use the o2 update.

Just a little newbie question...

I have the same problem, only with my income calls

I googled a bit, but I didn't fully understand it... It seems to me that the O2 update is for your computer or for the phone? (or both)

The o2 update is something that you download to your PC, run the .exe which installs the new files into Desktop Manager, and then when you run Desktop Manager the next time and connect your BB, the device will be updated with the new system software.

It's a very easy process.

It is I guess... if you have a PC.
Does someone knows how does it work on Mac? Maybe with Pocketmac?

You do bring up a good point. You must have a PC to update your device software. Either that, or be running BootCamp/Parallels on an Intel Mac. But PocketMac will not work for the update, because the source update file is in .exe form, aka, only for PC.

There has been some talk about bringing your BB to a cell store to see if they will do the update for you, but i doubt that T-Mobile for example would update you to a different provider's software at the store.

Your best bet would be to find a friend with a PC, have them install DesktopManager, and then do the update. I know it's not a great situation, but there is no support for BB device updates on Macs at the current time.

AFAIK this is still an issue... Maybe it will get resolved in a future software update, but it still occurs with the latest O2 software...

I get this with the 02 update. What seems odd is that some folks using the 02 OS have this problem and some don't.

I had the issue all the time on the T-mobile release, and a few times on the o2 release.

I went back to the Rogers release and have not had this issue.
