Default "Must Have" Third Party Applications

Please Login to Remove!

As a new BB 8830 user, I would be interested in everyone's opinions about their favorite third party applications and/or downloads. Thanks.

Quick question; why a stand-alone RSS reader (FreeRange RSS reader)?

I read a few dozen sites via Google Reader, which has a mobile version. Over EVDO is is fast and updates instantly.

There are missing features though that make me wonder if a stand-alone reader would be better.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Standalone readers are much quicker than the browser. Have you tried using one?

I'd say give it a try, and you definitely wont go back.

I haven't tried one yet, which (free) ones are the best?

Does RIM make one?

I don't like to install a lot of 3rd party software on my BlackBerry. After experiencing instability on plenty of Treos and WinMo devices with third-party apps installed I;m trying to keep my 8830 clean.

RIM does not make one that i know of.....

Third party apps are a hell of a lot more stable on a blackberry.... Try Freerange and Viigo.

I'd say use freerange, but you are limited to 10 feeds on your 'free' account.

Viigo u can add more feeds, but it doesnt wrap text.

I had same concern after my Pocket Piece of Crap - 6700. I havent had any 3rd party software issues at all on my BB's and I now have a number of them installed.

I just signed up for this and it seems pretty cool so far. 40 messages a month for 10 bucks plus .25 per message over seems a bit expensive, though

40 for $10 is .25c per message....lame. Does the balance roll over? Cause if it doesnt, it truly is a ripoff cause the bundle price is the same as the individual price.

Default Don't Use...

I've recently had bad luck with Google Maps and Mobile GMail. Either one, the other, or both caused my 8830 to glitch or crash. Using the BlackBerry Media Manager to uninstall the programs wasn't very intuitive. However, when I finally uninstalled it, the system is much more stable. Please let me know if I've done anything wrong or have others experienced this problem.

Probably going to have to provide more details. I have used both in the past and they ran fine. Why are you using the gmail mobile app?
