Default Torch 9800 Trackpad problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have been using a BB Torch 9800 for about two years but, in the last six months, I have been having intermittent problems with its trackpad and I am unable to move between icons or select applications by either using the trackpad or by tapping icons or sliding my finger on the screen. At times it works fine, at times it works only part way and at other times it does not work at all. This happens even with a fully charged battery and with what I believe to be the latest software Ver. 6.0 Pack 3049 (V6.0.0.706). In fact the device is now practically useless. I have removed and replaced the battery several times but that did not have any effect.

Is this a known problem with the BB Torch ? Can it be repaired ? What should I expect to pay if I bring it to a repair shop ?

Can anyone please address these questions.

If it's a two year old phone, it's probably time to replace the whole phone.

Trackpad problems are not a "known problem" with that model. Has the device been dropped? Exposed to moisture?

You can get a replacement part for probably under $10, but it takes some work to replace it.

I have the same problem and replacing my 2 year old Torch is not an option now. when this periodically happens with mine, turning it off then back on usually works.

Have either of you dropped the device or gotten it wet? the problems you are having are indicative of water damage.
