The "form factor" in that an 8700 is like holding a hocky puck up to your ear were as the 7100 actually resembles something that you would want to hold up to your ear! Again, I like both designs but it seems as though it is somewhat of a trade off. I guess it's nice to have choices!

By the way, the screen as you are aware is a bit wider on an 8700 than on a 7100 series. I suppose if one spends a fair amount of time on the web, they will more than likely use a laptop or desk top in which case my views become a moot point!

Not that you care about my traveling Schedule but i'm telling you what I, others from this forum have experienced. maybe my "most of us comment" was slighlty broad but i wouldn't call it inaccurate. Why is it that I'll be walking up 54th st and my GSM blackberry (cingular, fewest dropped calls, joke) dies, ends the call for no reason, then reads full signal 5 steps ahead of that. Never happens on America's MOST reliable wireless network, ever. So to fuel the fire, GSM cannot compare!!!!

DITTO THAT... I have said it time and time again, CDMA is far superior and anyone that says that CDMA is inferior is just retarded, GSM has been around for much longer than most think, it was in Europe for many, many years before we saw it in Europe... So don't say it's new, or the wave of the future...

1) The price for the 8703e hasn't been completely confirmed yet. Verizon sometimes discounts like crazy since it's a new product etc.

2) IMO the 7130 is sooo god dam ugly and hideous just ewww, to be honest, my favorite look is the 7250 style, i'm not too crazy over the 87xx style. And just Why did they have to crunch all the buttons together-they should have kept them same size as the 7250...

Thumbs down

Wow, Verizon's most expensive phone, if you subtract the $100 mail in rebate off the treos. They are really bathing in the cash now, now their chragin an arm and leg not only for the service-but for the devices now also. used to be providers charge you a lot more for one or the other...Not BOTH! $/

Stopped into the store this AM (VZW) and asked for a price of the upgrade. They looked it up (under 8703..note..no 'e') and showed me what their screen showed. Prices are as posted above, however, it was listed as Not Available (as was the 7250). When I asked if they had a unit I could see, I was told that I would be unable to view the unit till they officially release it, but I should come back mid to late next week.

Take it for what it's worth, I was unable to make contact with the local regional Executive so no real news, but something pointing to a sooner than later scenario for the actual unit to be released.

2 yr plan $349.99
Maybe vzn will give the $100 discount if somebody gets the unlimited data plan, when I bought the 7130 they gave me that discount.
2 yr $349 minus $100 data discount= $249

also happened to notice that at:
www dot discoverblackberry dot com/devices/series-detail.jsp?navId=H0,C63

you can see that the 8700 devices are no longer centered in the frame as they had been, but are set to the left where conveniently another device can be inserted quickly.

The previous posts about September 18 seem to be true according to my corporate rep.

That seems to be the most realistic date that we have heard thus far. I was told by vzw phone support that we will see it before the end of the month.

Just talked to the president of Verizon Wireless who told me it is out TOMORROW, also its only $49.99

I'm just kidding of course. but with the accuracy of this forum it was actually believable.

InPocket,

Since you haven't rely about where is your source of the 7130e has an Intel Processor, I am going to point this out again.

According to FCC's website, here is the internal photo of the 7130e:

The Qualcomm chips are obvious seen, but can you please point out which one is the Intel Chip?

Here is all the document FCC listed:
